Cons: you really get what you pay for. The hotel doesn't have an ice machine. We had to get ice from the bar, and if the bar was closed, it was up to whoever was at the front desk to get it. Half the time we were refused ice. It wouldn't have been such a big deal if the water from the sink got remotely cold. The toilets are LOUD. Expect to be woken up by your neighbors flushing their toilets. The staff in general was hit and miss. A few were friendly, but we also encountered staff that were cold and acted as though we were an inconvenience.
Overall, I wouldn't recommend it. I would pay a little more for a more comfortable stay somewhere else.
A few downsides to this hotel are the extremely warm hallways and ice rooms. No temperature regulation whatsoever. The pool itself is tiny and the pool area is dull and lifeless. Doesn't feel inviting or make me want to even get in the water.
Normally if I ask for a late checkout of 1pm its granted at the other locations. This hotel isn't fully booked and the manager insisted on that for me, a long-term member, she would have me pay an additional $75. So much for "membership has its privileges."
At this point I'm not sure what's company policy, but again I normally can get a late checkout at other locations at no charge.
Love this city, but this particular Aloft I won't be back.
The plus side: Employees were very professional and helpful. All my requests were met but just those minor details that was out of the scope for employees to fix. Loved the nice ladies at the checkin counter! Thanks for a lovely time.
As soon as I walked in the room, the bathroom sink faucet was coming loose and looked like it was about to fall off. We had to call and get it fixed for fear that they would blame us for the damage. The glass on the inside of the shower was filthy and the headboard on the bed was also dirty.
I requested to have my room cleaned, which you have to call before 10 a.m. for same-day cleaning, which is something I really wasn't too fond of. Then, when I called to schedule a cleaning for the following day, when the day came, no one ever came to clean my room, which I was really looking forward to given the somewhat filthy conditions the room started off in. Yet, someone knocked on my door with the cleaning cart and only handed me 4 wash clothes. I was really confused and inquired about someone actually coming to clean the room and they responded that they were not with the cleaning crew. At that point, I asked if he could just stand there and hand me the cleaning products off the cart so I can spray down some things in the room, clean up some and give the spray bottles back in two minutes. He agreed. For the price, I could have stayed elsewhere in the French Quarter with better service.
I was told before parking it was valet only and $43 a night, but I didn't see valet upon checking in. We ended up securing parking at the garage around the corner at only $20 a day.
Overall, the rooms were very basic. The fridge was in the bathroom (that was kinda odd). However, the beds were comfy and my kids enjoyed the outdoor pool. The first night, the room was very quiet. Unfortunately, the second night someone very heavy footed kept walking back and forth, and that made it hard to sleep. The next morning I was awakened by housekeeping and then the manager an hour later although I had requested late check out. Given the poor night of sleep due to the noise upstairs, and the interruptions from staff, my last day wasn't as good as the first unfortunately.
That all being said, I know everything can't always be perfect so I would take my chances and stay here again especially if the price were right (mainly due to the location and front desk hospitality). It served is purpose!
