ibis Thalassa Le Touquet

The hotels staff is not polite but restaurant staff are so nice they are helpful

We stayed at the Ibis Le Touquet in early January. We are a family of two adults and one child. A nice touch were robes on our bed on entering our room however there were no robes for children which was disappointing to our seven-year-old. The fold down bed which was for our child that was meant to be a double and it was a single. There was also sand and a cigarette end on the balcony that had not been swept up or cleared away. There is only a small bin in the bathroom and nothing in the main room. The shower leaked out onto the floor.

The reception was tricky to find as it looked like the old reception was now an exit of the hotel and the new reception was around the Corner. I had put on a request for a Seaview room as an upgrade if possible however nobody at the hotel spoke to us about this and as we arrived late we did not follow it up.

The hotel was easy to find and there was plenty of parking. The hotel is in a glorious position overlooking the channel. Our room was a little small. We had a Garden view room which was located by walking through the restaurant from reception. We found this quite odd that there were people walking around in robes through the restaurant to access the pool or the main reception whilst people were eating. It seems the hotel has been refurbished and the location of the rooms and reception are displaced. Our bathroom was ridiculously small my husband had to sit sideways on the toilet. Breakfast was Continental which was good however I think by the photo attached some dusting may have been missed in areas of the hotel. For that reason I would mark the hotel as three stars out of 5. A star is removed for how small the bathroom is and one star for the cleanliness. However we would stay at this hotel again as the town and the location are very nice and we had a comfortable nights sleep.

We spent two nights at the Ibis Le Touquet (friday 20th and saturday 21st october 2017) in room 129. We chose not to have breakfast as it is way too expensive (If you have to provide your own soya milk for ex) 12€ just for a coffe and a yogurt! The bar staff are nice enough but found the staff at reception wanting in their customer skills! I was bitten in several places in bed ( legs-shoulder-armpit) and trying to find something in the bed, I looked under the bed and found a rentokil tablet for insects! Which proves that they have an infestation of.... Bed bugs? A bug fell on me from the roof in the swimming pool! To cut a long story short, the young chap at reception shrugged it off (whilst answering the phone in the middle of our conversation). I did not speak to a manager and no refund was offered. The bedroom floor was dirty, and soaking wet near the window. We have been going on and off to this hotel since it opened years ago and they have not changed the carpets nor have they refurbished the rooms. Rooms are basic and decrepit for a 3 star hotel. The corridors smell of drains and of mould. Just because the hotel has great views does not justify low standards and extortionate prices. We will not go there again. I advise you go to another hotel inLe Touquet and go the beach for the views!!
