Reviews
Kanok Buri resort had so much potential. It’s a very nice looking hotel, we had a villa style room near to the pool and beach.
+Great beach view, beach chairs and towels provided
+The room was spacious and bed was very comfortable.
-The room air con wasn’t working so we were sweating most nights. Someone did come to fix it but not much difference was made.
-The included breakfast was very poor. There was watermelon, some cereal and yoghurt. Then you could choose some items from a set menu which was mainly white bread, eggs, rubber ham and a rubber sausage. I asked for cheese and onion omelette, it came plain. We asked for pancakes with banana. There was no banana. Breakfast service wasn’t very good, we waited a long time for the food and there was hardly anyone there. It’s a shame because the venue and view were fantastic. If they could improve the food quality and service it would be amazing.
-There’s not a lot of other choices for restaurants in this area either. The restaurant at the inn next door is ok. Best bet is to take a 10min ride to the nearest town to get something better to eat.
- Bathroom looks like it would have been hi-tech 25 years ago but is now dated and not working efficiently. Tried to use the jacuzzi bath and an awful sewage smell came out when I pressed the bubble button, as well as a few pieces of dirt. In need of a renovation!
-Didn’t use the pool, area wasn’t very welcoming or appealing.
A few days before check-in, we drove past the hotel. From the road, I must say, it looks quite unremarkable, and we started to doubt our choice. However, the hotel lived up to our expectations.
Excellent value for money.
We booked a villa with a small private pool. After researching all the hotels on the island, this was the best deal we found on Koh Samui for a private pool – couldn't find anything cheaper. Rooms in this category are located across the road from the main building, but this wasn't an issue at all.
The room was excellent: clean, quiet, and had everything we needed, including a new bathroom. It also featured a small private fenced-off area with its own sun loungers and umbrella, and a mini-pool with a waterfall and lighting. We definitely wished the pool was deeper; we're used to small pools, but not quite *this* shallow 😅. Still, it was perfectly fine for cooling off on a hot day.
The only downside in the room was the transparent ceiling in the bathroom, which made it very stuffy during the day.
When booking, we chose between this room and a Tropical villa with a mini-pool in the hotel's main area. If you value privacy, definitely book the villa across the road. Despite the lush greenery, all the pools in the Tropical villas are visible from the hotel pathways.
**Regarding the location:** This is where we truly fell in love with Koh Samui. It's a small village, but it has everything you need. Within walking distance of the hotel, there are several cafes and massage places, a currency exchange, and a 7/11 not far away. However, a scooter is still essential. The roads here are empty and very scenic. Not far, if you drive towards the pier, there's an excellent family-run cafe with very reasonable prices and delicious food.
The hotel has a compact, green property with small bridges and ponds with fish. There's also a large parking lot. The breakfasts were decent, and it was quiet and peaceful; there weren't many guests in April. There were always empty sun loungers on the beach and by the main pool, even though there weren't many to begin with. The massage service was a bit pricey; given the low number of guests, they could have offered a discount, which would have made us less inclined to look for massages elsewhere.
The beach itself is very quiet, with a narrow strip of light, clean, and soft sand – it's aesthetically pleasing for a stroll. However, the sea in April was not swimmable. It was shallow, with stagnant, warm, greenish water and a very silty bottom. I had read reviews, but I wasn't prepared for just *how* bad it was. In total, we only went into the sea once and didn't attempt it again.
The main pool was also boiling hot, so our mini-pool was a lifesaver.
Food: Minimal to no option of food for vegan and vegetarian food. But whatever is available is tasty.
Service : excellent service and very cooperative people but do not stretch themselves beyond working hours even if you are stuck up in a flood like situation as hotel being at a remote place from main market or city, arranging cab or taxi after 10pm is cumbersome task for them
Cost: it is very aptly priced keeping in mind the serenity and beauty this place carries.
In all Very peaceful place , ideal to spend a lonely time to meditate or spend quality time with your friends and family.
