What a special place! An absolute paradise removed from the hustle and bustle of Chiang Mai. It's hard to know where to start when describing Howie's Homestay. The food was exceptional. Peaceful breakfasts poolside and elegant, exquisite dinners prepared by Jerri. Howie and Jerri went out of their way to accommodate a food allergy. Dinners were tasting experiences with multiple Thai dishes prepared to perfection at each seating. The entire property is an artistic creation, with gorgeous decor and architecture, beautiful walking paths and many hidden gems throughout. Our villa was beautiful, spacious, peaceful and extremely comfortable. I only wish we had had more time to spend there! Howie and Jerri are wonderful hosts and provided helpful guidance as we planned our days in Chiang Mai. We would love to return in the future. Thank you Howie and Jerri!

This place has it all, great setting, great accommodations wonderful hosts and the BEST food you can have. Howie’s wife, Jerri, prepares all the meals and they were wonderful. She cooks as well, if not better than the chefs at Michelin starred restaurants I’ve been to. I have to say that this quality of meals far exceeded my expectations and was the best of anywhere wasted in Thailand. Howie is a great guy. He is very knowledgeable about the area and was able to steer us in the right direction right direction with all of our excursions. He kept us entertained at meal time with all his stories.

To celebrate our wedding anniversary, we spent four days at Howie's Homestay. The accommodation isn't a hotel or resort, but Howie's personal home, where he lives with his wife, Jerri. "House" is a bit of an understatement, as it consists of several houses, all in Thai style, nestled in a beautiful tropical garden with its own ponds and a fantastic large pool. It's hard to put into words how beautiful everything is. Everything is harmonious and well coordinated. Every detail crafted straight from the heart and made to feel like home away from home. This property could easily serve as a film set without any changes. We stayed in one of the guesthouses. A large bedroom, great furniture, and a large bathroom with glass walls overlooking the private garden. You couldn't get more privacy! To "steal" Howie's words, "100% private and 200% safe!" This was indeed the situation, PRIVATE AND SAFE! There are no other guests on the property. You're the only guest! And the food, like the property, is authentic Thai. Jerri (Thai) spoiled us with a variety of different Thai dishes – amazing! The pool, with its view of the hills and mountains of Northern Thailand, is huge and you have it all to yourself. Howie also organizes excursions and activities upon request. We went to Chiang Mai for a massage and a cooking class, among other things. The highlight, however, was the visit to the Patara Elephant Conversation Camp. It's definitely worth doing, it's unforgettable! From our perspective, there is absolutely nothing to complain about – 5 stars in all areas! Thank you Howie and Jerri! ❤️

My partner and I spent two unforgettable weeks at Howie’s Homestay in Chiang Mai, Thailand, in September 2025 – and words truly fall short when trying to describe the beauty, peace, and perfection of this place. From the moment we arrived, we were overwhelmed by Howie’s exceptional hospitality. He doesn’t just host – he welcomes you into what feels like a dream. Every corner of this private villa is designed with an incredible eye for detail. Everywhere you look, there is beauty – curated with love, care, and artistic vision. The lush garden grounds are nothing short of the Garden of Eden – flourishing, serene, and utterly magical. The infinity pool, crafted with natural stone, is a highlight. By day, it offers breathtaking views of the surrounding greenery. But at night, as the villa lights reflect off the water, it becomes something else entirely – a romantic and almost surreal experience we’ll never forget. Everything in this place – from the architecture to the interior finishes – is made from top-quality materials, exuding luxury and warmth in equal measure. It’s not just beautiful – it’s built to the highest standard. Another standout was Howie’s local knowledge and advice. His suggestions for nearby excursions were absolutely priceless and allowed us to explore Chiang Mai in an authentic, meaningful way. In every sense, Howie’s Homestay is more than just accommodation – it’s an experience. We left feeling refreshed, inspired, and deeply grateful. If you’re looking for privacy, beauty, and world-class hospitality, look no further. We’ll be dreaming of this place until we return.

Water is a central theme in Howie’s hoestay with gently flowing waterfalls, lotus ponds where koi swim gracefully, and crystal-clear infinity pools. Along one side of the lotus pond stand seven Lanna-style pavilions crafted from golden teakwood. Each pavilion serves as an independent space with its own function: living room, dining room, master bedroom, study, guest room, and more. We stayed at Teak Pavilion. It features an outdoor shower, sunken bathtub, and whirlpool. Glass walls and terraces open directly onto the garden, where blooming flowers, chirping birds, and lush greenery frame unobstructed views of the verdant mountain range in the distance. Room condition, space area, surrounding environments, heart warming house-keeping service are excellent and way superior than any 5 star resort where we stayed in many countries. No other guests are around thus giving you total privacy. You do not feel away from home. Reclining on an outdoor lounger, surrounded by the sound of flowing water, cicadas and bird chirping, cool breezes, and the scent of greenery, one can quietly read a book—or simply lose oneself in the ever-shifting clouds and mist—immersed in the simple beauty of mountain seclusion. Not just spiritual, gourmet Thai food is the best I ever tasted in my past ten Thailand trips.

There needs to be more than five stars for this place. Literally every detail that makes for a comfortable and memorable stay was included. From excellent advance communication to the most delicious food ever (seriously, we’ve had Michelin starred meals and this place deserves one!) to friendly and warm hosting… every possible amenity and anything we could ever have wanted to do pr not do (the pool is delightful). We highly recommend Howie’s HomeStay for a couple looking to getaway and think it would be great for families and groups traveling together too. We will be back!

Howie’s Homestay offers a private stay with options for privately touring Chiang Mai or simply relaxing in the comfort of this peaceful slice of heaven.

Howie and Jeri’s home stay is Is the most amazing property we have ever stayed at. While the property itself is probably the most private, well-designed, architecturally significant and overall mind blowing place, the real gems were Howie and Jeri themselves. We felt like we made new friends in Thailand and having coffee and chatting with Howie every morning was so interesting and insightful. It’s difficult to describe the quality of Jeri’s food, if this home was open to the public for dining, it would have three Michelin stars. Her flavors, presentations, the sheer variety of the dishes that we were served every night and the beautiful breakfast with so many delicious tropical fresh fruits was mind blowing. If you’re looking for a superlative experience like none you’ve ever had before, Howie’s Homestay is for you. 10 stars, we will be back.

Howie’s HomeStay provides an unforgettable experience. The exquisite environment, the impeccable services, and most of all, the delicious cuisines. Jerri, the beautiful wife of Howie and talented chief with her stylish and tasty fusion Thai cuisines satisfies picky taste buds. The only worris brought are that we’ll all have to go on diet after going home.

Howie's Homestay is an amazing experience. We stayed 6 nights this Dec for a family vacation. This was the BEST vacation yet. Howie made our vacation seamless. Everyone enjoyed the day extrusions, all coordinated by Howie & his staff. The meals are an experience & all made by Howie's wife, Jerri. The home you have all to yourself & every part of the property & gardens have wonderful views. We will definitely return!
