Deep Blue Hotel & Hot Springs

We much preferred the room we were allocated on this stay then our previous one. Clean bathrooms and great views and friendly staff.

We’re a family of four who stayed at the 2-bedroom Penthouse from 8-10 July 2023. The Penthouse was fantastic - spacious, clean, and with good ocean views. The staff were pleasant. The Hot Springs were a unique and wonderful experience - we opted for an afternoon slot when it wasn’t too crowded and we had plenty of time to enjoy all the Hot Springs. Note that (understandably) all the Hot Springs are in the open so weather can be an unknown factor — but really once you’re inside the Hot Springs it hardly matters. The weekend we were there much of south-east Australia including Warrnambool had severe weather warnings and despite that we thoroughly enjoyed ourselves!

Deep Blue is a mid range hotel with hot springs on site. We found the room to be clean (bathroom has bright surgery theatre lighting) and comfortable enough. A few things to note: the lobby absolutely stinks like a mixture of chemical and public toilet - I couldn’t quite get past the smell and it was far from pleasant. Main rotating entrance door is constantly broken. Some front desk staff are indifferent - on arrival, we stood there for 2 minutes while the staff carried on conversation without acknowledging us. Another time we walked in and the guy was busy studying the computer screen. Hotels are part of the service world and staff need to do their job properly. We had back to back bookings and called a few days before arrival to make sure the staff had linked the bookings up in the system so we wouldn’t have to change rooms. On arrival, we went through the process a second time and then on the first morning we had a guy in a fluro vest burst into our room - obviously he hadn’t got the memo about our back to back bookings. This is just amateur and I’m not sure what more we could have done to avoid our fluro visitor? Credit where credit is due - room remained warm during cold winter nights.

Spent one night at Deep blue as we wanted to visit the hot springs. Room was nice with modern furnishings but very dark at night time, only had a few down lights of which one wasn't working. Our stay felt very rushed after doing the early morning bathing session, if you wanted an 11am checkout it was an extra $10, which I think is a bit steep considering you are already pumping money into the establishment. Beautiful walk along the boardwalk at the beach in front of the hotel if you have time Average stay overall.

Rooms were clean and the bed was comfortable
Breakfast was nice and the staff were friendly
Did enjoy the spa bath
Hot springs were very relaxing at night
Room service was quick and delish

Kathryn and the staff are always fantastic. I recommend you spend a night or two.
