Bayside Resort, Ascend Hotel Collection
Parksville, 240 Dogwood Street 🧭 Map
Nice hotel , only downside was indoor pool and spa were under renovation which we were not notified of beforehand, one of the main reasons for booking
A beautiful smaller hotel right on the ocean in Parksville! We had a room on the ocean, beautiful views and so light and bright with comfortable beds. Everything was clean and fresh. All the staff were friendly and helpful, especially Gregory at the front desk.
My only regret was that we only booked one night.
Perfect spot for our ladies' getaway. Really appreciated the big coffee mugs (hate paper cups and plastic is even worse.) And the real wine glasses too. It's the little details that make a big difference. Beds were very comfy. The Nespresso decaf coffee is the best I've ever had. The front desk staff were so friendly and nice. The restaurant for dinner was excellent. Overall, extremely good...
This was my first time ever staying here and I was very impressed. I will definitely be coming back to the Bayside Resort in the future.
The staff from the moment I walked in the door were amazing. They were super polite and very helpful and very informative for all my questions and needs. The room was very clean and beds were very comfortable. I came there for a relaxing weekend and got just that...
The staff were very friendly, We had an ocean view room that was amazing and loved waking up to the sound of the waves. The room was very clean and it was nice to see real coffee mugs and wine glasses instead of plastic. We had an excellent supper at their restaurant (scallop and prawn pasta and a short rib rigatoni. Both were very tasty and cooked perfectly.
This is a beautiful hotel and the staff was very friendly and helpful. Upon check-in Gregory noticed a couple errors that the booking agent made and rectified them right away. We ended up with a much cheaper rate and an oceanfront room at no extra charge. Gregory even called the room once we were settled to make sure that we had everything we needed! The room was beautiful, the views spectacular, if...

Coast Parksville Hotel
Parksville, 374 Island Highway West 🧭 Map
No breakfast-lounge vending machine was basically empty.
Easy access off main road. Safe &Family friendly. Pets allowed. No credit card needed only cash dep in lieu..(which we really appreciated). Close to main shopping centers and attractions. Staff very personable and accommodating to our requests. Nice rooms with kitchenette. Very comfortable and affordable. We stayed for three nights and would definitely return.
For the money it is hard to beat this location, the cleanliness of the place, but most of all the hospitality. The front desk manager took care of all our needs and requests, and did so with a smile. I will definitely stay here again if I am in the area. Also... pretty solid medium roast coffee in the am!
Hotel was good, clean and comfortable, coffee and tea supply very little in the room, towels we're not very adequate for adults. The continental breakfast was a bit of a disappointment, as there was no eggs, hot oatmeal or waffles or oranges, just bananas and apples. Sparse compared to better supplied hotels. Generally well kept or recently renovated with good thick carpet. Also there was good parking...
Quiet room...good beds...good breakfast
For the price, this place was actually pretty decent! Nice location with a short walk to the beach. Beds were decent. And even anbasic breakfast included. If you are looking for an affordable place, this place is great!

Due to home renovations I recently spent 10 days at Ocean Crest Motel. Property is managed by a delightful young couple. Some of the best Customer Service I had the pleasure to experience. The rooms are spacious, very comfortable and kept spotlessly clean by the excellent House Keeping staff. I will defintely reccomend Ocean Crest whenever the opportunity rises and look forward to returning. Thankyou...
Very clean, complete and comfortable rooms. Great beds (one lower bed for a person in our group with disability) Outstanding service. One family member got sick and they were very helpful and accomodating.
We were there only for 1 night but next time I'd like to stay there longer.
The staff is VERY courteous, helpful and really nice!
Thank you Endy and family!
It was an older style motel that was newly renovated and was in great repair. The rooms were immatulately clean, the decor was fresh. It was located right across from the beach. They had all the amentiies desired to make it a great place to stay. Loved it!!!
I’d stay here again
Very nice place. I’d stay here again.
The exterior of the hotel looks old but we were very pleased with our room. It was the double queen bedroom. Newly renovated, clean and the beds were very comfortable. A short walk into town and very close to a very good restaurant , The Shelter.
Would absolutely stay here again.

This is one of the best accommodations I've stayed at. Spacious and clean room, amazing private beach views, and friendly staff. I spent the morning walking on the beach and listened to the ocean wave in the backyard, where a couple of black rabbits leisurely hopped by. Strongly recommend.
A great place to relax and enjoy a walk on the beach that is right out your front door. Staff is amazing ... so friendly & helpful. No better way to enjoy the Salish Sea and all it has to offer.
I love this resort. This was our second stay here, and we will be back again. Right on the beach. Has its own private beach area. Full kitchen. Friendly staff. Great location. Rooms are large and very comfortable with all the amenities you need.
We love The Shorewater!❤️
A beautiful place to stay. This was our second time and we've already booked for next year. The views are spectacular. Watching the seals play, get visit from deer and delightful bunnies of various colours.
Glorious walk along the beach when the tide is out and so many delightful little spots to stop and get a bevie and a bite.
Staff at the Shorewater were exemplary, Janet...
Very clean, comfortable accommodation. We will book here again.
We arrived as a family of 4.
Room had a full kitchen.
Unobstructed view of the Ocean.
Loft Queen size with a Murphy and sofa pull out bed.
Staff was super friendly and remembered our name.
We could stay there for a month.
Short drive to shopping.
Quick walk to a pub and restaurant across the road.
Stayed there before as a couple on the ground floor. Patio right out to the beach.

The hotel was clean, the staff were friendly and helpful, and it was close to where we were working in the area.
We very much enjoyed our annual stay at The Grand. Excellent, friendly service. Dinner at the restaurant was delicious as always although the Mother’s Day brunch could have been organized a bit better. We were surprised not to have a balcony in our Deluxe room this time. We’ll have to be sure to request it next year.
We enjoyed our night , it’s a bit noisy from the road near by, but it was nice to have a balcony and everyone we encountered was friendly
Large rooms with gas fireplace. Clean with good beds. Air conditioner is limited to how low the cooling setting is allowed, which was not as low as we would like for sleeping! If you like a warm room, this is a good spot for you!
We have stayed here 3 times & have always enjoyed our stay. The restaurant is very nice, the food is incredible & Hussein is an amazing server.
The room is badly in need of renovations because the very old carpeted floor is uneven and bumpy. There is a smell in the room where I had to open the window to air.
The bathtub hot water is just barely warm. A report to the receptionist on my 3rd evening.. who suggested I change my room.
When I checked on the first day, the reception offered a room upgrade which I rejected after I went to the room...

Bev & Sandy's Place B&B
Nanaimo, 2734 Camcrest Drive 🧭 Map
Bev & Sandy are the kind of people that make this world a better place! Their B&B is perfect! I love all the little extra detail and attention they provided and I was very grateful for everything! Thank you! Cheers!
Bev and Sandy are wonderful and they accommodated my family so we could all be together for Christmas. They rearranged furniture so there was room for the kids and the dog and made sure we had everything we needed. It has a private entrance, parking right in front for easy access and a lovely outdoor area. I recommend Bev & Sandy's Place!
My husband & I stayed at Bev & Sandy's B &B recently & have nothing but good things to say. The 10 days we spent here was incredibly enjoyable & relaxing.
Bev & Sandy themselves are a very nice couple, very much respectful of their guests' privacy, but very friendly & open at the same time. This alone was important to us.
They have all sorts of bits & bobs around the B&B which gives everything a...
If there is 4.6 rating I would have given it. Hosts are amazing. Gave us tons of useful local advice and brochures. Place very clean and functional. A nice back yard. Hosts allowed kids to use back yard zipline and trampoline.

I'm staying here as I'm posting this review, felt it was right to give credit where it was due. This place is a nice affordable hidden gem. Came here for work but got the relaxation I needed and will hopefully bring the wife back here next time. The complimentary breakfast was well thought out and appreciate it a lot, felt like my mom was looking after me. ☺️Thanks so much again!

Maple View Bed and Breakfast
Nanaimo, 3315 Rock City Road 🧭 Map
The location is easy to find and the owner was very friendly. Our only problem was the heat was turned off on our arrival and it took a long time to warm up our room.
Relative staying here, good food and warm private room. Owners not present during agreed check in time but otherwise no trouble at all. Three dogs upstairs
Beautiful and private bed and breakfast, the suite has its own entrance and locking door. Quiet wooded setting, wide choice of breakfast from continental to full English.

Gibralter Rock Ocean View B&B
Nanaimo, 118 Gibralter Rock 🧭 Map
Stunning view and convenient to ferry at Departure Bay. The downside, no remote for the tv and frequent slamming of a door outside our room until about 11:30 pm. Made it difficult to sleep for our early departure the next day.
We love it , we will stay here again
Fantasy views from the rooms in a lovely home tucked away in a quiet neighborhood. Welcoming friendly host.
The view from the balcony is breathtaking. The host was extremely friendly and helped us settle in super well.
Highly recommend.
Million dollar views from a million dollar home. Gorgeous! Friendly, welcoming hosts

Stephenson Point Seaside B & B
Nanaimo, 3318 Stephenson Point Road 🧭 Map
The roomy, beautifully decorated room and ensuite plus the spectacular view makes this B&B a treat fit for royalty!
I found the continental breakfast more than adequate and appreciated that the lovely proprietress catered to my need for gluten free.
Awesome hospitality, million dollars of Departure Bay, quiet place to relax.
Stayed at the Stephenson for my anniversary and was incredibly happy with how amazing my time there was. We arrived late to our check in time as my boyfriend had to work, however, Cher was incredibly welcoming and we immediately felt at home. The house is spacious, and the room we rented was quite lovely. The view was spectacular. Hands down my favourite part of this trip was watching the sun rise...
Cher is a wonderful, gracious host with an amazing B and B. The Eagle's Nest room has a luxurious set up with a large, cozy bed and a deep soaker tub in the bathroom. If you're a bath lover, you will be in heaven! The view from the room's balcony is breath taking. This is a wonderful weekend getaway!
Nice quiet location. The host is so lovely my girlfriend Susanne and i had such a good time. The view from the oceanview suite is absolutly stunning. We just sat a couple of hours in the room to watch the lake. Highly recommend this B&B.

Nanaimo, 2011 Estevan Road 🧭 Map
We used this as a one night stop over before catching an early morning ferry. The room was rather outdated but clean and comfortable which is all we needed. 3 mins to the ferry terminal so no need to add extra travel time for city traffic. Easy to get into the city from. As others have said friendly welcome and helpful staff at reception . Not sure I’d stay more than 2 nights here but if you are just...
An absolute diamond in the rough,
Departure bay is in between renovating but without the construction.
The customer service from the front desk was a testament to Canadian hospitality and due to arriving early we were offered our choice of the rooms with guided tour before selecting.

We thought the staff nice and helpful. The room was very dated, but clean. The bed was not very comfy and we could smell cigarette smoke from other rooms.
Clean and close to lot of interesting places! Liked the price and the people working there!

When I come into town for work, Departure Bay is always one of the hotels that I check for availability. The staff is always friendly, professional and well informed about the area.

Cambie Hostel Nanaimo
Nanaimo, 63 Victoria Crescent 🧭 Map
This place used to be my stomping grounds so to say as I lived here all my life. The Cambie is ok for myself to sit and relax during the day hours. The nights usually seem geared for the younger generation and it should be. I stood in there one night a year ago in 2019 with the loudest music i ever heard in this place. It was vibrating and totally not my thing. Not sure what kind of music it was. Wild...
The rooms left me wishing more, so simple but whatever just slept one night there, also the music is bumpin hard (it was metal karaoke night) but good thing is that it finished at midnight on dot. The bar is cool tho and the bathrooms are trippy. Nice treatment by the staff too.
Looked in with my wife for a couple of beers during the afternoon having read reviews. It was dark and very much a 'dive' and she wasn't too impressed to start with. Great choice of beers, good music through the speakers, what's not to like? By the time we left she loved it.
This place was awesome! Huge, lots of things to do, a stage, and friendly bartenders. We went on Thursday evening and the girls behind the bar were awesome.
Cool art in the bathrooms, if that matters to you. TONS of different types of beer.
Might come to the island again just so we can go back!
We didn't feel well but wenn didn't feel unwell. It is an old Hostel and you can see that but you can arrange with it.
Attended a meeting in one of the conference rooms. I've stayed here before and it's lovely. Great rooms and great food in the restaurant.

Value Lodge Motel
Nanaimo, 736 Nicol Street 🧭 Map
It's normal motel for this money. It's nothing extra, just good stay at night.
We've stayed here before. No surprises. It is an economy hotel...just as advertised. It is clean and staff is helpful.
The front desk person, Aidan, was really nice and welcoming. Was always ready to help.
clean rooms, quaint old style restaurant with good food. Nice staff
Got a surprise when I checked in. Turns out even though I made the reservation using a Canadian credit card the rate shown were in us funds so the night was another 35% more.
It was difficult to enter the property from the South as the highway at this location is marked with double yellow lines, which in most duristrictions means you cannot cross the center line at this location. Entering the property involved turning around
