DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel & Conference Centre Regina

This was my first stay at the Doubletree, I travelled for work. The front desk was excellent and very helpful with all my questions. I like the text service, when I was waiting for a food delivery the desk confirmed for me by text that they could receive my order. Rona was especially helpful, I dealt with her most, she deserves a raise for sure. The restaurant in the hotel has excellent staff and the tastiest smoked brisket I’ve ever had, truly a treat for someone who loves beef. That’s high praise from an Albertan who was raised on AAA Alberta beef. My only complaint is the restroom in my room could have seen more attention from the cleaning staff. Splattered toothpaste spots on the walls and water marks on the door were a bit of a turn off but not the worst I’ve seen. The conditioner supplied was empty, but that didn’t affect my stay as I brought my own for personal sensitivities. When I mentioned it, they offered to fill it right away. All in all, a very pleasant experience.

EDIT: Completed my stay and my rating does not change. I would like to give a shoutout to Rona at the front desk. She is hands down the friendliest front desk attendant I’ve ever met. She genuinely enjoys her job and it shows! The DoubleTree is lucky to have her on the team. She is super friendly and nice!

I normally do not write reviews for hotels until I’ve completed the stay. But I will have to make an exception for the Regina Doubletree. There were a few issues I’ve experienced during my stay so far, but I still must put this in the top 3 Doubletrees I’ve stayed at. And this is single handedly due to the people that work here. Teresa is such an asset to the team. Not only she is helpful and knowledgeable, but she is also PROACTIVE. For example, I wanted a certain way housekeeping tidied up my room, and she immediately offered to have housekeeping continue in this way for the rest of my stay. She offers nothing but straightforward solutions to any problem.

The rooms are spacious and while tired, are in good condition. Beds are comfortable as you would expect from any Hilton property. Water pressure in the shower was fantastic. However, the bathroom itself was extremely tiny. Like Japan-sized tiny. The-door-opens-into-the-toilet tiny. The inclusion of a balcony in every room adds a nice touch.

Breakfast was your standard hotel fare. Again, the staff gives it the extra something that makes it special. I’m not sure if’s it a Saskatchewan/Regina thing, but everybody was so NICE! It was certainly a nice start to my mornings.

Now onto the issues:
The parking situation is less than ideal, but I won’t fault the hotel for it. They put enough signs and directions so it’s easy to follow. And this isn’t something the hotel can change easily. However, I must bring up the fact that I felt unsafe in the structure. I got back to the hotel last night around 8pm and there was an individual (that wasn’t a guest) clearly under the influence of substances hanging out in the vestibule between the parking garage and the hotel. I suggest enhancing security by having the doors locked between the garage and the hotel to ensure guest safety. On the upside, for a downtown hotel, parking is ridiculously reasonable.

The rooms, while comfortable, are subject to connecting room syndrome. DoubleTree, as a brand, expands their portfolio by mainly relying on hotel operators to switch chains instead of the construction of new properties. While this is great for increasing Hilton’s market share, it unfortunately means many DoubleTrees are older properties. This one is one of them. If you look at the floorplan, 95% of the rooms are connecting rooms. I had the unfortunate luck of having a “lively” neighbor and I could hear everything they did in their room through the connecting door. Unlike the parking situation, I will fault the hotel for this because they could’ve sealed up a few of the connecting doors during their renovation. However, Teresa was quick to offer a solution – to move me to a non-connecting room, and to make a note to not put me in a connecting room for my future visits.

Finally, the toilet is an interesting piece of equipment. The toilet seat won’t stay up, and if you flushed it too quick, the flapper won’t drop back down, leading to the endless filling of the tank.

All in all, had a pleasant stay here and if I ever find myself in Regina again, I will not hesitate to stay here.

Nice rooms with a great view, easy walking distance to nearby attractions. Only reason it didn't get 5 stars is the parking isn't great. Not much parking lot room out front, especially during the day, and unless you're driving a car, some SUVs and most trucks cannot fit inside the indoor parking. Be prepared to walk.

Pleasantly surprised. We upgraded to a suite and it was quite nice and very spacious. Room was a touch dated, but it was clean and comfortable.

The breakfast buffet was really good. Great selection, and free for Hilton Diamond members.

The parkade is not great. Really low ceiling requiring trucks to park on the main level. There is a stairwell from the main level to the hotel looby, otherwise you have to take an elevator to the basement, then take a different elevator in the hotel. They gave me a parking ticket even though my plate was registered at check-in, but the hotel took care of it.

We were stuck out of our house, due to asbestos removal, and were luckily able to get a room during Agribition. The rate during this time was obviously ridiculous, but the service was great, checking in and out.

The room was OK. Nothing special. At regular price, I'm sure it would be worth it.

We never got to the pool/slide, but the restaurant was decent. Sever was super friendly.

Nice hotel. Rooms are clean and well laid out. Fitness facility was good as was the restaurant. They also have some strategies for being less wasteful like getting rid of the tiny soap bottles and cleaning the room after every 4 days unless you request more often. Only of thing was the bathroom was 10 degrees hotter than the rest of the room. I think it worked fine (although I doubt it was intentional). Overall an enjoyable stay. Would definitely stay again.

Excellent service...from ladies at front counter as well as the 2 ladies that work the breakfast bar...so pleasant and professional. A special call out to Mackenzie in the Restaurant Bar in the evenings....great guy who was by himself behind the bar but got to everyone in a timely manner. I would stay here again but didn't love the parking fee... annoying. And finally, when is Hilton going to stop milking COVID to avoid daily house keeping? More out of principle but obviously big savings to the hotel without any benefit to the guest.
