Edgewater Hotel

I stayed at the Edgewater in late September 2023. This was my second visit to Whitehorse. Check-in was easy. There is no elevator, so you're going to have to carry your luggage up to your room. My room was small but comfortable. There was a TV, bed side radio, microwave and fridge. Place to hang up your clothes; storage beneath there. Friendly staff upon check-in and also the housekeeping staff were super accommodating. I was also allowed to keep my Bicycle Rental on-site. This hotel is right downtown, so you are close to everything. It is an old hotel but has been renovated beautifully. Airport shuttle is available via the Front Desk. Overall, a positive experience.

Born + Raised Yukoner here. I've stayed at every hotel in Whitehorse aside from the newest and the Westmark is by far my favorite so far. The staff are kind and helpful. The rooms are great, beds are incredibly comfortable. I like that they provide a steamer vs an iron and the bathroom is well lit for self care 💅🏽 Unfortunately if you are someone who works virtually the rooms aren't super soundproof so remember to bring headphones! The location is perfect and there is limited, first come first serve parking available and airport shuttle service. The room cleaning services are so sweet and kind and deserve to be tipped well!

On the other hand, the restaurant is open for limited hours, doesn't offer room service, and gives off a classier feel than it should. The menu is limited, pricey and doesn't offer many good options for people who travel to this hotel for work. I went there twice and was turned away because their kitchen was closed which wasn't ideal because my only other options were to DoorDash fast food or buy the unhealthy snacks at the desk, 😅 neither of which are options for me!

Next time I will ensure I have a fridge full of healthy snacks so I am not stuck hungry after a late night work meeting!

The 4 stars is because lack of parking. I’m a rural community member and we need parking. The city now having online parking meters helps but, I can’t figure out why the heck they don’t share the parking lot behind them after hours. It’s empty all the time after 4 pm -8 am and, the hotel literally has 5 spots and, if you get one dumb tourist that can’t reverse in there properly, then there’s only 3 or 4 spots. It’s really frustrating because if there’s an event happening in the old firehall, often we have to park so far away. Considering we are often there for drs appts and shopping, having to hobble or haul all your stuff inside from over a block away, at -40, so it doesn’t get stolen or frozen, frankly, sucks. Tourists aren’t the only ones in hotels, local Yukoners probably make up 50% of Whitehorse visitors, please consider us.

What an amazing hotel. Location is great but what totally impressed me was the service and attention to details. Someone even came by my room to make sure all was good. Great job! Also has shared shuttles to the airport. Just ask the front desk to book a spot, and double check again in the morning.

This room was very nice with lots of luxury touches. The hosts were helpful and welcoming.
The walls are thin, as is the ceiling so expect to hear other guests. Hotel parking is very limited.
The water pressure is atrocious.

I was having such an awful day. i have been checked in for 4 hours and i knew i had to post a review. I got here at 3 for check in. the check in process was easy and fast. nothing complicated like other hotels in whitehorse. I went for a walk to shoppers. nice and short but lively on a Friday night. I didn't want to sit in a beautiful romantic restaurant so I ordered in from downstairs Belly of the Bison. my night continued improving, I ordered the tomahawk pork, steamed mussels, and scallops. delicious. i thought this calls for some bubbly. I called the restaurant back. yes they had a bottle and glasses for me to take to the room. the service has been excellent. I honestly was having such an awful day until I checked in. the rooms are clean. there is a little excitement from the miners daughter downstairs, for a young person like me it was no bother. the coffee in the rooms is delicious with real cream in the fridge. small details made for a delicious stay. I love the sheets on the duvet. great idea I will do this when I get home. upgraded TV was able to play my movies I had stored on a USB. beautiful art on the walls from local artists. honestly really impressed and the Edgewater has become my preferred hotel. thank you to the staff for making my stay delicious and comfortable. I woke up miserable and went to bed thankful.
