Reviews
We were very disappointed with our stay at this hotel.
We had booked just one night because we were coming specifically to watch the match in Dortmund. Online, we found this hotel that seemed to have everything we were looking for: a beautiful building, very nice and well-equipped rooms, breakfast included. The price was €156 for one night for two people. A bit expensive, but given the description and the very positive reviews, we thought it was worth it.
As we had informed them, we arrived a little before midnight. The welcome wasn’t bad, but it wasn’t good either. No polite greetings, just pay, sign, and get the room key. So far, nothing particularly notable.
We then went to our room, which was located right next to the main entrance door (which turned out to be particularly unpleasant).
Upon entering the room, our first impression was extremely unpleasant. There was a very strong bad smell. At first, we thought it was the smell of stale cigarette smoke, but since the hotel is supposed to be "non-smoking", I hope that wasn’t it. After breakfast, when we returned, we smelled it again — like the room had been occupied by people who hadn’t bathed in weeks. It was truly unpleasant.
Once we tried to overlook this nauseating smell, we put down our things and started to look around the room — and things didn’t get any better. First, lying on the bed, there was this small fabric pouch. We had no idea where it came from or why it was there, like some kind of hotel gift. I sincerely hope that wasn't the case, because the bag was disgusting, covered in coffee stains. My partner and I looked at each other, disheartened... the only thing that reassured us was that we were only staying one night.
I then went to the bathroom to freshen up, and there… the worst part: I saw that the bottom of the toilet was filthy, as if someone had gone number two without flushing… We honestly wondered if we were on a hidden camera show.
Add to that the hairs found on the pillow, the mattress, and even on the bath towel…
In the morning, we were woken up at 7:55 AM by a vacuum cleaner in the main hallway, as well as noise throughout the night from the main door being used by other guests. Also, at no point did we find a way to connect to the Wi-Fi from the room.
In short, an experience where absolutely nothing went right. The only positive point was the breakfast, which included vegetarian and gluten-free options.
At check-out, the lady took our card and said goodbye without even asking how our stay had been. So we are forced to say it here: it wasn’t good.
I do not recommend this hotel and I will not return there the next time I visit Dortmund.
It’s a shame, because when I read the other reviews, I feel like we just had very bad luck…
Room itself was comfortable and looked good. There was a bathtub, but no bathtub drain stopper. Maybe I could've asked for it at the reception, but then again - it should've been there already, I paid for it!
Sauna and fitness room was also out of order (normally free for all guests as I've been told)...
Breakfast was great. I don't have any special dietary requirements and enjoyed pretty wide selection of food. It's not caviar and champagne, but everything was fresh and tasty.
I have made a quick reservation for one night , at 23:00.
The employees are very friendly, the rooms are clean and comfortable.
We would book it again!
Rooms are very nice and the service is also very nice and courteous! Breakfast very tasty!
