I originally posted a review describing serious issues during my stay. That review was removed, but I am now able to review the location after proving I indeed stayed here. The hotel was understaffed — we were locked out of our room for hours with no one at reception or reachable by phone in the middle of the day, because are room keys became defective. Hygiene was extremely poor, including what appeared to be hairballs and trash in the lobby and mold in the shower.

I stayed at the Altes Kaufhaus for 2 nights whilst travelling aboard for work. The hotel was only a short 10 minute walk from the station and was very central to the pubs and restaurants. The rooms were excellent and very clean, would happily stay again.

We really loved our stay here. The check-in and check-out were smooth. Our room was spacious and had everything we needed. The free mini-bar was a nice surprise :) I had a work call during our stay, and the wifi worked wonderully throughout the meeting. Would have loved to stay longer than just one night!

Contacted the hotel via their homepage (email) with a question on their rooms. Both normal double rooms and a family room available on their homepage when I contacted them and had a question, so I could choice the right one, but no response.

Nestled along the riverside, this remarkable hotel exudes charm and meticulous attention to room maintenance. However, check-in procedures tend to be prolonged, often surpassing 50 minutes, and breakfast service beginning at 7:00 a.m. may pose an inconvenience for early-rising guests.

Beautiful hotel in the very centre of Lüneburg. I was in town to provide a lecture at Leuphana University. The hotel is situated right in the middle of town, not far from the train station. The rooms are quite spacious and comfortable, and even have a dining table. There is a steam sauna and a gym available to the guests free of charge. The gym's exercise machines do need some maintanence, though.
The receptionist, Monika, was wonderful and very professional. Quite a great experience, overall!

Nice hotel in the city center. Nothing extraordinary but can recommend. Breakfast are placed across street.
