Where to stay in Ivalo

We were there in wintertime and it was amazing. The houses are very cute and clean. It is nice that you have your own doorstep. We had a nice tiny house experience. The park is simple but nice and on walking distance from the centre of Ivalo. The owners are happy to answer all your questions. We booked their husky-, snowmobile- and aurora safari. Super cute place with good breakfast. All basic comforts are available and you can plan your activities at the location itself (if you are unsure of online booking)

Warm and friendly hosts in a beautiful setting. We couldn't believe how warm the rooms were considering it was reaching -15 outside. It's about a 30 minute walk into Ivalo village where there are a couple of supermarkets and places to eat lunch. Dinner though is best eaten in the restaurant at the holiday centre. Excellent place. Me and my wife visited this place during January and enjoyed a lot. Was lucky enough to witness some exceptionally good and colorful northern lights right from our cottage.

This place is FANTASTIC. Wonderful location (7 minutes from airport, drove 20 minutes and saw amazing northern light), super comfortable and clean, very kind owners that went out of their way to make our trip special. We can't wait to come back- thank you Matti!

Easy to access. Cottages are quite primitive. Service building is new and well functioning. New and more modern cottages are being built in the area.

Very happy with our stay at Star Artic Hotel. We thought the Scenic Suite was good value for money considering the location and time of year. We spent 5 nights in a Scenic View Suite with Sauna. Service was very good and the organization of the activities excellent. We went for the Snowmobile Tour and the IceFishing which was both very well organized incl. equipment etc. The guides were knowledgeable, helpful and very nice! Walking distance to the slopes and the toboggan - do it, it‘s fun!

The location is beautiful! Juuso and Nicky were such amazing host! They truly went above and beyond to make sure we had the best vacation. One of the places to remember forever! We received the most wonderful hospitality from Juuso and Nicky. Never met owners/hosts that are so dedicated. They cared so much about their guests and went beyond to help us see the northern lights. The cabins have excellent views and the walks to the city are a great experience by itself. The apartment was great! Very welcoming, warm on arrival with underfloor heating. The apartment was clean and excellently presented. Wood was provided for fires. And when we realised we had no firefighting supplies we contacted reception and they were straight around with matches and a lighter ;-) Thanks! One great addition was the drying cupboard for your laundry, but also worked well to quickly dry...

Very satisfied with our house. The beds are comfortable, the house looks nice, it is nice and clean, the sauna is nice, it is nice and spacious. Highly recommended.

Nice place for two adults, floors cool, but slippers were for the house. Plus landscapes from skylights, e.g. starry sky in clear frost and heated windows. Note that it often winds in the fell and there are no trees to protect, so bring warm clothing.

Excellent accomodation, with excellent scenes, excellent facilities, excellent location and comfortable bed. My unit is the first unit at the east, so I can see sunrise every morning. Few hundreds meter walk to Kaunispää tower can see aurora.

Great cabin, your left alone a text to give you a pin to a key lock to enter your cabin, quite, chilled area and cooking facilities, the sauna is amazing!

A great location and a big nice cabin. Well prepared for the visitors. Enough space for a car. Save for the kids. Clean - A sauna heater doesn't work ( fuse is ok). It would be nice to keep a such a nice attraction in a working condition. Best, Roman

Excellent place for a Lappish holiday, I stayed there with my dog and it was very convenient and nice. Beds are comfy, lots of space. The location is close enough to the centre but also quiet and rustic. The only criticism is that it wasn’t absolutely clean - some hair in the shower drain, rings of old food around the cooking rings, dishes not clean.

Very peaceful location and yet close to necessary services. A great cottage for a family with children and a dog.

Natural wood interior, romantic light (no bright light inside except shower room) but it's really nice cozy atmosphere especially when you have experience make fire by yourself at fireplace! Great place for vacation! ;)

cabin itself was brilliant. very well designed. the sauna is too dark, although the shower/toilet was really spacious and warm. sufficient needed stuff provided, such as logs, toilet paper, kitchen towel paper, etc. the major complain is the cleanness, like the towels and the ashtray.

The glass igloo was so homey and cosy, with an amazing view. I looked forward to coming back to this little home after a long day on the slopes. Quite a basic hotel but lovely atmosphere for all of the Lapland antics 😀🎅 Kids loved the buffet breakfast and dinner and easy access to great sledge/toboggan Hill ( bottom of ski piste) and the Artic Cirlcle Centre. Magical with the wintery landscape. Warm cosy and Perfect for a few days in the Artic circle as long as you don't expect the Ritz 👍

I can't fault the hotel or the staff at all, they've gone above and beyond to help us and accommodate us, they are all so helpful, kind and the rooms are perfect! They are clean, warm and the views are stunning! The food you ask? There's so much to choose, from fresh fruit to amazing smoothies to beautiful salmon and local produce!! Reception is very friendly and good. Rooms are a little old and out dated, not on the highest standard but the bed sleeps great on it. Breakfast was very good!

Rooms were amazing, everything you need and cozy. Sauna was good. Very confusing to find the check in but it seems to be because of temporary relocation due to fire. Good value. Location not ideal but not problematic. Would be amazing in a better location and with a view.

Accomodation is small and okay. Everything you need and very clean. You get breakfast vouchers and you can have breakfast 300m away. But - let's not call that breakfast. It was the most terrible "breakfast" i ever had based on quality and number of choices.

Decent pricing and accommodation, lacks some finishing. Audio equipment is old and does not function with smartphones, TV is bad and signal is poor. Bed is amazing and hotel room is beautiful.

Stayed here for a few nights in the off-season. The room and the building were nice and the interior was fresh and new. It was nice to have a private sauna time. The soundproofing turned out to be pretty bad and the breakfast was mediocre at best, but the price was super cheap for such a nice room and the location was so good that the negatives didn't really matter too much.

Rooms and location are OK. However, the buffet dinner closed 1/2h earlier than scheduled. The hours for the sauna were also limited, and the swimming pool won't be ready till 2027. 🙄

This was one of the best hotel I’ve stayed throughout my Finland trip! Although it was a little far-off but there are still many restuarants to dine in around the area. Great ambience and design of the room! The room even have a huge sofa and mirror 🤩

Lovely place, met all our needs. We had an apartment with was well equipped and cosy. If in Saariselka would consider staying here again. One little thing, maybe it’s the culture but we had two single beds pushed together to form a double as opposed to one double, but that was a minor inconvenience. And we loved the area so much!!!!

I can't say a lot about it as we didn't stay here, just popped in and out. The restaurant/lobby looked lovely. Very pretty. There is also a little shop selling drinks/snacks etc. It did seem very busy, especially in the evening.

We had a lovely stay in Holiday club Saariselkä. It is a huge, clean and very nice hotel. It is right at the heart of Saariselkä. View from our room window was stunning, even walk at the back of the hotel was spectacular. Very large and nice room with own sauna! We had a very special dinner in a Finnish hut - kota; they even cooked a very delicious vegan meal for us. Great place!

We actually stayed in Gielas rather than Tunturi, but for some reason that won't come up. Our room was lovely and the housekeeping team did a great job when they came in to service the room. The beds were comfy. We had tea/coffee making facilities and a sauna in the room. Restaurant staff were absolutely amazing!!!!!! So friendly and polite. We even had wine recommendations to go with our meals...

The staff is amazing. The food is also good. The location couldn't have been better. You can see the reindeer while you have breakfast (in summer time at least). They have 5 restaurants, a disco, a pool (billar) to play, 4 bars. What else do you need?

Wonderful place near skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling. Many options from the breakfast bar. We enjoyed the bar and a delicious dinner. The sauna in our room was a highlight!

Nice place. Only down point due to covid restrictions was the bar manager(?) Not letting you take board games to your room, you had to sit in an empty bar to play them.
