Nice, clean hotel. But we were not informed that the hotel would be undergoing renovation when we booked. We received an email less than a week before our stay informing us about this and that the restaurant would be closed. We were staying Sunday where literally everything is shut in France incl restaurants. We specifically chose this hotel because of their restaurant. We could not cancel our reservation...

Although I was informed that building work was being carried out on the hotel, the description was that it was confined to the new lobby area. It was a surprise therefore that my wife and I were woken up by workmen on the roof right outside our bedroom window. The hotel was nowhere near to full capacity and we could have been located in a room on the opposite side of the corridor.

During my stay I had a tooth abcess resulting in a swollen cheek. I was visiting from England and do not speak french and I was very grateful to Timothy on the check in desk, it was Sunday and he was able to find me an emergency appointment with a local dentist. I had a root canal and got a prescription for the antibiotics. This was a brilliant example of a member of staff going the extra mile to help...

Really pleasant hotel with attentive, professional and friendly staff. Rooms were good, a little "old" but clean and comfortable. One thing I missed was a fridge in the room. Food good. Excellent stay here, staff were welcoming and accommodating the bar and resturant were great the ‘Burger with Camembert’ was soooo tasty! The rooms are nice and cosy the only bit that prevents the 5 stars is the bathrooms feel quite dated and are in need of some renovation.

Excellent hotel. Luxurious rooms with reat view. The personnel is very polite and hospitable. The hotel us right next to the train station and within walking distance from the city center and the castle.

A wonderful hotel with friendly and welcoming staff, comfortable rooms with air-conditioning and a breakfast which is fit for a king! Overall we had a good experience although having a room with a communicating door. The stuff was friendly and the location is great if you are taking the train.

Currently this hotel is being renovated. Nevertheless good amenities and maintaining it's quality. Breakfast had good options and receptionists can talk English.Will recommend.

A walk from the train station but don’t get it confused with the other Hotel Mercure up the street. Get breakfast in town and don’t leave your window open if you are traveling in the summertime. I can’t say enough about the wonderful staff at this beautiful, historic hotel! They went above and beyond to help us, including making appointments for our pre-flight COVID tests. Highly recommend!

First and foremost, the service at Saint Julien was nothing short of exceptional. The staff were warm, and welcoming, and went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout my stay. We have just spent 2 nights here and we found the room very clean and modern with all the necessary equipment with a comfortable bed and good shower. the staff were very friendly and helpful and the breakfast a good continental one with Angers well worth a visit especially the castle.

Great and central location for a visit in Angers. Parking was possible practically only 200 m away from the hotel.

We were very happy to find this hotel located in the heart of the city with easy walking distance to the main sights and restaurants. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the staff, particularly the Breton receptionist, was extremely helpful and professional. Great value for your money!

Beautiful old building, great location, nice staff but it’s quite expensive for what it is and compared to other places in Angers. Tiny rooms with tiny beds, no toiletries apart from soap. No kettle in the room. They could try a bit harder

The bar in the hotel is empty the weekends so if you want to get away from people it's a good place to go. Nobody, no barman (he is the receptionist) and no windows. Very secluded!!! The drinks are reasonably expensive however.

Very convenient hotel just outside the train station, adjacent to the bus for the puy du fou and near the angers tourist attractions. Spent a night there with my mum on the way to puy du fou. We had a nice stay and the hotel is very clean. The receptionist is always smiling. They have a bike garaje, if you are bike touring.

We stayed in the hotel for one night while travelling by bike. Both receptionists were super friendly and attentive (5* for them). They had a special deposit for our bikes, which was great. The location is very central, you can visit everything by foot. The price was fair and the room very comfortable. Some small maintenance would be necessary, specially in the bathroom.
