Koukoumi Vegan Boutique Hotel

Such a special hotel! We felt relaxed and pampered from the minute we arrived. The atmosphere was perfect for a relaxing break and all of the facilities were great and felt very luxurious! The food was phenomenal and we were blown away by how good it was from our first meal at lunch when we arrived, you could really tell how much care and attention had gone into each dish. While staying there we signed on to the cooking course, which we did with Anna. It was such a great and interesting experience, Anna shared lots of her knowledge with us and we left very excited to use the recipes she shared back home! The location of the hotel is very good, very close and easy to get to the airport and old town by taxi. There is also a beach 20 mins walk away, which was very pleasant.

To start with the positives, the staff are very welcoming and accommodating. Even in the months leading up to our stay, they were responsive in helping coordinate our visit and transfers to/from the port. The room is beautiful and the bed was comfortable. The outdoor pool and dining spaces were also peaceful and inviting. Regarding the food, everything was flavorful and thoughtfully crafted, and our waiter for dinner was quite knowledgeable about the entire menu. As traveling vegans, we’re grateful to have found a fully vegan hotel where we could enjoy several meals during our stay on Mykonos.

I really wanted to give this hotel 5 stars, however there were a few shortcomings:
1. The food service was incredibly slow, as others have noted. We had dinner our first night at the hotel and it was nearly a 2.5 hour ordeal. While I understand they are trying to create an experience, dinner should not take that long to prepare or serve. It deterred us from having dinner again at the hotel.
2. Our breakfast order was completely forgotten one morning. After placing our order and waiting 50 minutes, I followed up with the waitress as she was beginning to take the buffet down only to have her apologize and tell us the kitchen “ran out of paper” and our breakfast order was forgotten about. I have never had this happen to me before even at much less sophisticated and pricey restaurants and hotels. This was frustrating and disappointing. Another review from a year ago reported the same thing, drink orders not even being started after 40 min. Apparently these service feedback loops have still not been fixed.
3. Portions are small for what you pay. The food is expensive however the dinner and lunch portions are quite small.
4. I paid extra for the executive suite because of its private balcony, but it was fully concrete without any cushions (shown in photo attached) as advertised in online photos and featured no other furniture, which made it an uncomfortable place to spend much time.

Overall there were many positives of our stay at Koukoumi, and it met our needs even if there were shortcomings.

Being at Koukoumi is the most amazing experience, the hotel is just beautiful and filled with love, we met so many inspiring and wonderful people! We started the days with yoga and meditation, relaxed at the pool and enjoyed the incredibly good and healthy meals.
So thank you Koukoumi for this amazing experience, I’ll be forever grateful for the memories created at this beautiful place that are going to warm my heart in cold Berlin winters. We absolutely plan on coming back!

Beautiful spacious rooms. Perfect gym - best one I saw in the hotel ever so far. The same goes for breakfast buffet. Nice but slow service. My breakfast a la carte never arrived after 30min I had to leave for the airport. Dinner is bit too complicated - trying to be too fancy. Portions too small. Dessert way too sweet. Lunch menu is great. Restaurant hours are too strict. The same goes for gym. I understand pool is closed for dinner hours but gym could be open 24/7. Expensive. Overall would come back if ever back on the island. Location next to main road.

My wife and I went here for our honeymoon. Upon arrival, we were greeted by an amazing front of house. We knew from then that our stay would be wonderful. The room was super comfortable and cozy. Each meal we had was memorable and will have us coming back one day if we are lucky just for the food. What really made this place special, was the service. Every single staff member was spectacular. Our servers were incredible and really made us feel special. The highlight of our stay was the phenomenal cooking class we took with Anna. You will not regret staying here! Our honeymoon was spectacular and the whole team at Koukoumi helped make it that way.

We stayed at Koukoumi for 3 nights and 2 full days and absolutely loved everything! The room had a lovely hot tub and the pool area in the lobby was so relaxing. The staff was personable. It took only 15 minutes to get to the main town areas to explore too. They made transport to and from the hotel easy. I also had a heavenly spa experience! Perfect for couples.

There are some wonderful elements to this hotel. The food is, on the whole, exceptional. Breakfast offers a choice of one a la carte item, and a buffet selection. The bed is incredibly comfortable with good shutters to block out the light. Some staff were very helpful, especially the lady on check-in. I really enjoyed my cooking lesson, although it was more watching than doing, the recipes were creative and easy to replicate at home. The little gifts after the class was a nice touch. They were also very good at identifying what I could/couldn't have due to allergies.

However, there were quite a few elements which mean I wouldn't return.

1. this is not an adults only hotel, despite the impression it gives and lack of any kids food on the menu. I'd never book a hotel with kids allowed for a relaxing break and it was really disruptive on the days children were screaming and splashing around in the pool.

2. As another review mentions, the water pressure in the toilet in room 13 is too high and results in dirty toilet water leaking onto the floor regardless how gently you flush the toilet.

3. While some of the service was very good, it was overall not as attentive as other 5* hotels I've stayed in, especially at meal times. There is no drinks service at the pool, you have to go to the bar to order. On at least two meals my bill was incorrect, again a sort of minor point but goes to the attentiveness of service.

4. A sort of minor point, but 6 teas are displayed at breakfast but only 3 are included in the cost. This just seems cheap by the hotel not to offer a range of teas (especially as I have an orange allergy and couldn't have the single type of juice offered).

5. A kettle is provided in the room but no tea, only a couple of nespresso capsules. I was told very explicitly on arrival no outside items were allowed, so what was the point of the kettle?

6. I didnt like the lack of traditional loungers, there's a mix of reclining chairs and actual bed type options. Neither of which are very comfortable. There's also not umbrellas with full coverage (they're all a criss cross type weave), meaning you can't use loungers but be out of the sun fully.

7. I felt very uncomfortable that there was someone doing a professional photo shoot around the pool, and other promotional photos being taken ad hoc. This is not conducive to relaxing and I certainly don't want to be disturbed by a photo shoot when trying to relax. If someone wants to do this, the hotel should ensure it's done when guests are not around the areas being photographed

For the reasons above I wouldn't return to the hotel, but might drive for a meal if I was back on the island.

We had an amazing stay at Koukoumi and can't wait to return! The staff was incredible - friendly, welcoming, and always attentive. Even the owner and manager greeted us personally. The food was delicious, especially the incredible breakfast buffet. The hotel itself was beautiful, clean, and cozy. It was a short 15-minute ATV ride to town, which was convenient. We'll definitely be back to Mykonos for the beaches, but also because we loved Koukoumi so much! Thank you for everything!

I absolutely loved every part of my stay. Truly magical. Alex was one of our favourite parts of our experience, his yoga classes were amazing. The food was impeccable. I am truly enchanted.

We had an amazing stay at Koukoumi. The rooms were luxurious and the food was incredible. Every bite of food from breakfast to dinner was an experience. As a vegan I very rarely have that experience and I was so happy to find it at Koukoumi. I hope to return someday!
