Staycity Aparthotels Venice Mestre

I stayed at Staycity for 3 nights. I have stayed at 5 different hotels during my trip in Italy, and Staycity was by far the worst experience, and I cannot agree with the 4-star designation of this hotel.

To describe a few incidents during my stay at Staycity:

1. When we checked in, the room was not in a clean shape, we found some hair. We asked the reception for the re-clean or change of room, but it was not available on the first night, so we asked to have the room cleaned the next day. It was difficult to have the reception agree with the re-cleaning the next day, since they argued that the cleaning service can only be done once a week unless I pay extra charge. They eventually agreed to have to room cleaned the next day free of charge. However, the room was not cleaned during the next day, and when I went to the reception to ask about the cleaning, the reception staff (Giulia) argued with me that the room was cleaned as it was supposed to be, and blamed us for having stuffs in our room. We cleaned our stuff as much as we could before we left, so that was not a fair argument, and I don’t understand why they try to argue with me when the room wasn’t cleaned when it was supposed to be. I asked for a room change, but they only gave us a smaller room that did not fit our stuffs, so we agreed to stay in our original room but have it cleaned the next day, which was done this time finally.

2. The room was missing a pan and a pot (this is an apartment hotel with cooking facility), so I asked the reception for a pan and a pot, but the reception staff (Rose) questioned me and argued with me (again) that the pan and the pot must be in the kitchen and blamed me for not looking thoroughly. Obviously, the pan and the pot were not in the kitchen, and they offered to bring me a pan and a pot the next day, which was fine with me, but I just don’t understand why they want to argue with customers and blame them first.

3. The heater was not working in our room, so I asked the reception to fix it, but they argued that it must be working properly. I asked repeatedly but they never fixed it or sent someone to help with it during my stay, so I had to sleep cold during the three-night stay.

The overall experience was not pleasant at Staycity, and I do not recommend this place. The staff members were not friendly nor accommodating at all, and even manager does not want to deal with issues such that he or she doesn’t even come out of the room to assist with situations. I hope the staff members take their job more professionally and with pride.
