UNAHOTELS Expo Fiera Milano

I appreciated how clean the hotel and my room were and it was quiet. The temperature was very hot and even though the thermostat said 19 celsius it often felt warmer and the air turned off at night, so it was very uncomfortable to sleep. The hotel is not located near much, including a mini mart or grocery store. The hotel has a deal with airlines/tour groups so there are often large groups of people there that makes breakfast time crowded.

I think this hotel would have been quite grand during its hey days. Now it looks like it’s trapped in time. The reception area looks nice and gave me some hope, but when I went to the guest room, the hallway was a tad too clinical. The room itself is large and very spacious as well as clean and well maintained. There’s a cozy little nook where you could have a cup of tea. However no kettle or tea is provided in the room. All in an all it is a clean and functional stay.

The breakfast provided is large and extensive and totally worth having your meal here.

Good:
Clean, spacious rooms, friendly service.
Good big beds.
Facility corresponds to 4 star level.

Problematic:

1. Rooms have connecting doors to neighboring rooms. Normal conversations in the neighboring room are as loud as if they were in your own room.
In addition:
loud hallways, poor insulation.

2. If you close the glass door that separates the bedroom from the anteroom (for noise reasons), it becomes very dangerous.
It is located in a typical hallway in the dark, where there is normally no door; you forget about it in your half-sleep.
The result: I had a black nose for days and a slight concussion.
My colleague hit her forehead in her room, so it wasn't just me.
That's really dangerous!

3. In the bathroom, you either hit your head on the radiator or on the bathtub faucet, depending on which side of the bathtub you sit.
Whoever builds something like that.

4. Breakfast: selection OK, mediocre.
Coffee and tea cups are so small that you have to go very often (if you want to drink more than 100 ml). Canned fruit and cheap sugary cereals are more common than high-quality products.

The restaurant in the evening: high prices, very salty.

5. Wellness area closed indefinitely.

6. Annoying: when checking in - despite having paid for the room in full - a credit card is required, from which 100 € (!) is blocked as a preventative measure due to city tax. Other hotels do this up to a maximum of 30 €. Despite objections and willingness to pay the tax immediately, they just do it.

7. Incidentally, the slowest reception I have experienced in the last 50 hotels.
Check-in takes almost half an hour, check-out 20 minutes.
Very - very - slowly.

8. absolutely a no go: House keeping enters room although there is a sign „privacy please“.

Summary:
Really good points, but compared to other 4-star hotels, there are questions.
