Grand Hotel Riviera - CDSHotels

This hotel is in an excellent location and is your typical Italian hotel of this rating. The town is lovely and it is a great base to visit the Salento region. The breakfasts offer more than most typical Italian hotels. This is a good hotel for families and is recommended, overall. A few improvements would be to ensure that guests have access to hot water for the shower in the mornings. We had hot water only in the afternoons and evenings, in both our rooms, however, despite having staff check it out twice. We were told it had to do with the heating of the solar panels. More consistency is needed for turndown as it was bypassed a couple of evenings in both our rooms on different days. Lastly, we were not offered assistance with any of our luggages. When we checked in, we were advised to park our car and then go to the rooms with our luggages from the parking level. This meant for me to get to my room, I had to climb stairs with my luggages. This hotel offers a (very crowded) beach club (suitable for families with young children), relatively close by. They offer a complimentary shuttle to and from the beach and conveniently offer beach towels.

So not as grand as you'd think. The staff is amazing, the rooms ok, housekeeping is a little schizophrenic in what they do. Take things out and put things in even when the Do Not Disturb light is on. Breakfast and the bar are great. Even if you're room is ready don't count on getting in one second.earlier than required..lunch is McDonald's mediocre and we weren't brave enough to try dinner. I think they are a 3 star hotel not a 4D (4 Superior)..The second pool.was filthy.. The spa was great but an almost total lack of instruction. But I'd go again it's among the best things going for hotels.
