Reviews
We stayed at Hotel Pineta Campi during the first week of October 2023. The hotel and apartments deserves its 4 star rating. We stayed in an apartment with a Mountain View and balcony. Here’s the honest pros and cons…
Pros:
✅ The view is wonderful
✅ The apartment is modern and very clean
✅ The pools and sauna were nice, can’t comment on the jacuzzi as we only tried it once and the bubbles weren’t on (not sure why)
✅ Situated close to Limone Sul Garda - a must visit location 🍋
✅ We didn’t eat at the restaurant but it looked like the outside area had a lovely view
✅ Peaceful setting, a few walkable restaurants near by
✅ Good value for money
Cons:
❎ The welcome wasn’t the friendliest, it was pretty average
❎ The apartment was a bit cold, but we personally didn’t want to pay extra for heating
❎ We had to spend a lot of time finding English channels on the TV - ended up mainly watching BBC World News just before bed
❎ No oven - I wish we new this as we done a shop on the way and bought some oven foods
❎ There’s dog(s) near by and we heard a fair bit of barking during our stay, luckily not through the night though
❎ Shower takes a long time to get hot
❎ Be prepared to be bitten by mosquitoes - obviously this isn’t the hotels fault, but it’s just a warning, so that you bring some bug spray. There’s also a lot of wasps that come to visit your balcony if you eat outside!
❎ Apartment block is quite far away from the hotel, you have to walk down a steep hill to get there so it’s missing the buzz and vibe of being around people
❎ Pay to play pool and there’s no triangle
❎ Paying extra for bedding and towels
About the drive:
As many reviews have already mentioned the roads are windy and they’re not kidding! We have rented cars in lots of locations and it was a bit tedious having to go up and down these little windy roads every time you want to go out! The journey to the bottom of the hill takes about 15 mins if you’re driving sensibly, which some people do and some don’t, (again, not the hotels fault). In our opinion, it’s well worth it for the view, but it all depends how much you like driving!
Breakfast of mediocre quality. Lots of choice yes, but quality not great.
Only positive points were that we could charge our electric car and that price-wise compared to other hotels it was a win, but this hotel is definitely not worth a 4 star rating.
-staff speaks no English at all
-I was alone and wanted a glass of wine for dinner and I was refused as I would have to buy a whole bottle. Bar was next to the restaurant but the incompetent waitresses did not think of bringing me a glass of wine from there
-the food at dinner was a disgrace especially in Italy where the food is always good. Quality, look and tase all horrible. I will add a photo of the fantastic creation they thought of: grated potato on a fish and french fries next to it. Very creative! Buschetta was with pizza sauce. Salad bar looked bad, badly cut, bad quality tasteless, colorless food
-on arrival nothing was explained about the hotel, wifi password etc, no info at all
-dinner only from 7.30-9pm. When I said thats a bit short, the receptionist woman said: we are a hotel, not a restaurant.
-water in room while showering is lukewarm not hot
-tv is tiny
-old furnishing
Really the only good thing about the place is the spa and the view. It could be a nice place with professional staff and management. Now its a 2-star hotel with a 5-star view.
