Desert Camp

We had an amazing time at Desert Lodge and couldn't have asked for a better experience. The accommodation was fantastic, offering stunning views and breathtaking sunsets that we will never forget. One of the highlights was the affordable and delicious BBQ option, which we thoroughly enjoyed.

The proximity to Dead Vlei was also perfect – it made visiting the iconic site so easy and convenient. Additionally, we loved relaxing by the pool and had a great time at the bar. The entire atmosphere was incredibly welcoming, and we truly felt at home.

Nice and comfortable bungalows with some stunning views next to the national park entrance. You can park your car next to the bungalow. The staff was nice, they booked dinner for us at the nearby Sesriem Lodge. You can watch the sunset from there.

Absolutely breathtaking. The staff were friendly and very helpful. Rooms are beautiful, neat and tidy with stunning views. They have a bar right there in the middle of the desert. So peaceful.

After staying in the Desert Quiver Camp last year, this year we booked the Desert Camp. It's equally beautiful, with nice beds, a proper shower and convenient storage space. The view is magnificent and the people very friendly. Nothing can beat the dinner under the stars at the lodge. Of course the closeness to Sossusvlei is the main reason to stay here, but the pool area is nice as well.

Desert camp was a wonderful place to stay. The cabin was spacious, comfortable and very clean. The location absolutely stunning (and convenient) and we very much enjoyed a poolside drink each afternoon. The staff were also friendly and helpful.

Desert Camp exceeded our expectations and is highly recommended.

Wonderful views from the veranda. Nicely appointed apartment. The beds leave a lot to be desired. They were like climbing into a bath. They need to be replaced. Only continental tourists would be willing to pay the rates that they ask. Very nice to stay there after camping elsewhere.

Nice camp! Cabins are beautiful and clean. The utility box is quite convenient. A broom in the rooms would be handy, as the dune sand is all over from the wind blowing at night. One of the beds in one of our cabins was actually not usable, as the bed base and mattress seemed to be broken or worn out. At the bar there was no beer from the tap or draught available. But the waiter just said: "We don't have"! No options or friendly excuse!

Desert camp was one of our best stays in Namibia. You have a nice cabin, a lot of privacy and an amazing view. When you're there, you should really use the braai yourself! This experience with the sunset is great. The staff is so friendly, they even arranged birthdaycake for my birthday. We loved our stay here!

Amazing views of the desert, with easy accessibility to the national park. Really friendly, and helpful staff. Beautiful rooms, and good facilities. Incredible stargazing sight, and exceptional sunsets guaranteed. Special shoutout to Eileen at the bar who was an amazing bartender for the nights we stayed there.

Prices for food at the restaurant can be quite expensive if you are local/SADC so bring your own food... but they are considered fair prices for foreigners.

For the self catering options, you can get a box of utensils at a small deposit, and use those to cook your own food which works out quite well if you have brought your own groceries. They even have firewood/coal etc if you want to braai [barbeque], with options to order marinated/unmarinated meat and side salads/veggies from the place at a cost if you prefer that.

Only issue staying here was that the water often got cold after the first person showered. Even with some time between the 1st and 2nd person showering, the hot water would either be finished or just remain lukewarm which is unfortunately not great when you're on holiday, especially after a visit to the dunes wanting to wash the sand off. But other than the hot water, no issues at all!
