The hotel is located in the turtle protection area. After checking in, there are activities to observe turtles at 20:20 in the evening and 5:00 in the morning of the next day. Fortunately, I saw turtles in both activities. It was very meaningful. In addition to turtles, you can also see the starry sky.

Nice location and views

The turtles worked hard!
Turtles usually come ashore at night, dig holes on the beach to lay eggs, bury the eggs, and then return to the sea.
I like this hotel.

A nice hotel in a quiet location. Good service and a great breakfast. There's a small museum and a gift shop on-site. The bed was comfortable. However, the bathroom was small, the shower curtain too short, causing water to spill outside the shower, and there was mold on the walls. No elevator in the building, and all rooms are on the first floor. The off-season price is not justified by the quality.

This place has nothing to do with animal welfare. I don't understand how others can be so enthusiastic about their experience.
This place was the worst experience of my life - I'm ashamed to have been there! On this "turtle tour" in the evening (where you had to wait 35 minutes before it even started) there were two turtles on the beach being harassed by 200 (!!) tourists. The guides do their best to share valuable information, but most of the visitors don't listen at all and take photos with flashes the whole time (despite being asked several times to refrain from doing so). In addition, all 200 tourists were watching a baby turtle trying to get into the sea and just stood in the way.
If you like animals, you should not go there under any circumstances, it is pure torture and you only make these animals insecure. I am deeply ashamed to have been there!

Amazing experience, came with our family (2 kids, a 3 year old and 1 year old) and we got to see everything we could have possibly asked to see: baby turtle emerging from their eggs, walking to the sea, mother turtles coming to the beach to lay eggs, watching the egg laying and covering process, all under the expert guidance or our guide who was very strict at enforcing where people walked and ensuring no flash photography or lighting was used.
I have read the negative reviews, but I did not see anything remotely negative during our stay (2 nights in luxury tent). The accommodation was perfectly set amongst the mountains and the views at night will stay with me for life.

We were doubtful of the experience based and the different reviews we saw. We wanted still to make our opinion. If you go there for the evening tour, I would suggest to avoid the restaurant. The tour itself is nice and the guide are careful with the turtles but the tourists are the one that don’t care. Even if the guide repeats many times to not use flash people are still rushing around with their flash on. I would recommend to the reserve to lend more red flashlight to make the visit easier. If you have already a red flashlight you should bring it with you, it will be easier to navigate in the sand at night.

Took the attached images on my second visit to Ras Al Jinz Turtle reserve as part of a Turtle Rescue Campaign organised by Environment Authority Oman.
Ras Al Jinz Turtle Reserve is a renowned conservation area in Oman, famous for its green sea turtle nesting. The reserve offers visitors a unique opportunity to witness these magnificent creatures in their natural habitat.
Key features include:
* Turtle Nesting: Thousands of green sea turtles come ashore each year to lay their eggs. Visitors can join guided tours to observe this incredible spectacle.
* Research and Conservation: The reserve plays a vital role in turtle research and conservation efforts, ensuring the protection of these endangered species.
* Museum and Education: Learn about sea turtles and their life cycle through interactive exhibits and educational programs.
* Accommodation: The reserve offers comfortable accommodations for visitors, allowing them to fully immerse themselves in the experience.
* Stunning Scenery: Enjoy the breathtaking beauty of the Omani coastline, including sandy beaches, crystal-clear waters, and dramatic cliffs.
The reserve is also a fabulous location for star gazing. There is a store at the reception area where one could buy memorabilia as well. Overall a must visit place in Oman for tourist and residents alike.
