Capsule Hostel Chiangkhan

Our stay at Capsule wasn’t “bad” by any means. The positives were that it was in very good location for the walking street and the Mekong river, and that it felt secure between the lock for each room and then the main entrance key card entry. The owner/staff were also very communicative and spoke a bit of English which was very helpful.
However there were a few issues we found that made us feel the price of the room (890bt for the double room) was not worth it.
The biggest issue was the bed - it was two twin beds moved together, which in general is normal in Thailand and not much of an issue - however these were literally the hardest beds we have ever tried sleeping on, and it’s not even close. We camp, backpack, and have slept on couches our whole lives, and it’s easy to say that this was the hardest and least comfortable bed in an accommodation we’ve slept in. The first night was some of worst sleep we’ve had since traveling the past two months. The staff was kind enough to give us two additional comforters to put on the bed to add some cushion for the second night - this helped enough for us to get a better nights sleep, but was still pretty limited in comfort.
Second, there was essentially no wifi or service in the room, which I understand isn’t a guarantee everywhere, but the fact that there was fine wifi and service in the lobby but not in the room was very frustrating.
Finally, the room was extremely dark with all the walls and ceilings painted a very dark color and one small window, meaning without turning in the limited lighting the room had, it felt like a bit of a cave we were in.
The ants running in a line on the ceiling in the shower with a few scattered in the room weren’t a huge issue as I realize ants are everywhere and they really didn’t bother us, but that in addition to the room feeling like a boiler room every time we’d return from being out until the AC would turn on and kick in with the key card, I don’t think we’d recommend a stay here.
I think with some fixes to these issues the place would be pretty nice to stay at, and again it’s not like it was a terrible stay, but solely due to the bed situation I would not consider staying again at this time.
