Samui Boat Lagoon Hotel

We stay at Samui Boat Lagoon every time we visit Koh Samui and have been coming here for several years. We love the private pool villas, the location, and the value—which is why we continue to return. During this stay, we noticed what appears to be a new hotel director who happened to be in the lobby when we checked in. He was friendly, and it does feel like some improvements have been made since our last visit. ➕ Big improvement: Breakfast partnership with Café Luca Previously, breakfast was optional and delivered to the villa as a fixed set menu with no choice. Now breakfast is included and served at Café Luca at the hotel entrance, with several items to choose from. The food was very good and the staff there were friendly. The downside: the café is closed on Sundays, so no breakfast is available then. Also, we had to ask how breakfast works because no one explained it at check-in. ➖ Communication needs improvement The staff communicates mainly through WhatsApp, which is fine, but response times are very slow—sometimes over a day. The woman who checked us in was polite but gave us no information and spoke very limited English. More proactive communication would really improve the experience. 🏡 The villa itself As always, the villa layout and private pool are the main reason we stay here. It was clean, comfortable, and felt familiar. It seems they added a coffee machine, which is great—but they hadn’t included coffee, only tea, sugar, and sweetener. We got different answers from staff about whether coffee was provided; eventually, a small bag was delivered to us. 🐜 Mosquito problems this visit Mosquitos were worse than usual. The electric bug zapper didn’t help much, and while repellent coils were provided, there was no lighter to use them and they didn’t stay lit. We had to buy our own lighter and even then they weren’t very effective. 🚽 Bathroom & room comfort issues A few things could be improved: • The industrial-style toilet paper dispenser (like in public bathrooms) is awkwardly placed behind the toilet and the paper is extremely thin—very impractical. This really needs to be replaced. • The mattresses have seen better days. There’s a topper on them, but it doesn’t help much. • The private pool drainage is quite loud when water spills over; adding stones in the overflow channel could reduce the noise. 🤝 Staff & surroundings Staff remain friendly and the resort is well-kept. The area around the hotel continues to improve with more shops and places to walk to each time we visit, which we appreciate. ⸻ Conclusion We still recommend Samui Boat Lagoon—great villas for the price, a location we love, and friendly staff. But better communication, improved amenities, and a few maintenance updates would really elevate the experience, especially for loyal returning guests like us. Highly recommended overall, but hoping to see a few upgrades on the next visit. ⸻

We were a family of 4 staying in a two bed villa. The villa was so spacious, we loved the outdoor living area. Well equipped and pool towela provided. The kids loved our private pool aswell as the big communal pool (we were often the only ones in it). The staff were all friendly and helpful. It was conviently next to a quiet beach which was great for sunset walks. Some nice local thai places to eat within walking distance too. The big buddha is a 20min walk or short taxi ride away.

The only thing I'd highlight is that the two bedrooms are not connected and are essentially seperate builds with the pool inbetween. As we were travelling with small children (under 6), we didn't feel comfortable leaving them in their own room across the pool where we couldnt hear them, and also concerned we wouldn't want them trying to walk to our room in the night and accidently fall in the pool. Instead we just slept 1 adult, 1 child in each room, which was fine but just not what we had anticipated when booking a 2 bedroom villa. I'm sure older children would be fine, but thought it was worth highlighting to other families of small children.

Absolutely love this place, this is the 3rd time we have stayed. rooms are clean and well serviced. staff are absolutely amazing.

I really enjoyed my stay here! The staff is very friendly, cleaning crew was very thorough and they offered a laundry service(there is a fee). I will definitely be booking this property again

Week of Relaxation
Very pleasant stay. The villa was well equipped and the pool got lots of sunlight during the day to keep it at a nice temperature. There was a great sized pool at Hotel, however, it was not really utilized by guests - there was no guest facilities around the pool (except for lounges) to attract guests. (Could do with a small bar or cafe?) There is a local 7/11 and some good cheap family restaurants near by. The only negatives were that the bed was extremely hard - but that is a personal preference. Lots of Mosquitoes and we had to buy insect spray and coils to try to keep them at bay. Beach at this location is not very good, but you can walk a short distance to get a better stretch of beach. Have to catch a ride share to get anywhere - which costs around 350 to 400 bht each way - even to local upmarket restaurants only 1.2kms away. But you can always walk. Overall an enjoyable stay.

We had a good experience at Samui Boat Lagoon. The room was very nice, but with minor reservations, like the water pressure and temperature in the shower wasn’t great, and the bed was exceptionally hard even by Thai standards 😅The staff was incredibly sweet and helpful, and when I asked for an extra mattress for the bed they got one straight away.

Our biggest “problem” was that it seemed a little to quiet. There were almost never anyone at the big pool. No restaurant / breakfast, so it we felt a bit alone after a couple of days.

This hotel is superb! Very clean, friendly staff, lovely set up with your own plunge pool / sunbeds and kitchen area if you don’t want to go to the main pool. Main pool was largely quiet when we were here… no rush for beds. There’s a lovely restaurant at the end of the road into the hotel and a 711 next door - no bar / restaurant in the hotel itself. Not a lot more around - Sopa at the end of the main road is also good for food and they deliver. However, grab taxi (like Uber) are cheap to Bophut or Fisherman’s village. Download the app.
