Reviews
The rooms are not my concept of a resort. The room itself is clean, the bathroom is not that much. The "basic room" means there is no tiles in the bathroom, no coffee/tea facilities.
The towels are suffering. Terribly old. The shower had no pressure at all. Taking a shower means to take a long time and patience.
The bed is firm, what was the best for me, I loved it!
And the worst in my opinion. There's no fridge in the rooms in a place that is so hot that you will desire a chilled water at least!
Beds : Hard as wood! We were thinking to use the mattress of the long chair on the beach instead of our room mattress. Seriously, if you use the word "resort" please have mattress to an minimal confort standard.
Noise: no issue with the bungalow near the beach, however if you take a room near the lobby, brace yourself all night for Toads, monkey, rooster and neigbor! Sound Isolation is poor to none.
Rooms ok but aged, our AC didn't cool enough and sounded like a hurricane. Wood was rotten in some places, but that common in Thailand around tourist areas. koh Tao it mainly for the younger, diving or party crowd. You can find better resorts for lower prices if you are coming as a couple or family and would probably choose Samui. We like nicer places and don't mind paying where price = value. I would say here that not equal .
Not bad, but about 60-70% of what we wanted.
To compare, we stayed at a 4.8 star on another island which was outstanding, had nothing, no even one thing that we could complain about for $60usd.
Grounds/Staff: Pleasant pool and lovely, well-maintained landscaping. Staff were polite and helpful. Taxis are pricey (800-1000 baht for a 10-12 km ride), and the driving was less than safe. Restaurant was ok, but the pad see ew was very bland. Not sure why there was a pile of discarded construction materials left in the middle of the resort. Lots of mosquitoes; having standing water in pots and ponds exacerbates the problem.
Rooms: Clean and relatively pleasant. Very firm beds. Small gaps in floorboards and around some windows. Our aircon leaked a lot the last two days. The bathroom would randomly start to smell bad (likely a plumbing problem) and water pressure was low.
Overall: a reasonable value for the money, but not without compromises.
Guy at the reception always looked not bothered. Not like a typical Thai person. They are usually very helpful.
Pool is nice and location is away from all the beach clubs so it's much quite at nights.
The service level and comfort was outstanding.
Our rooms were always clean and comfortable and had all the facilities we needed.
The staff were always friendly and helpful and the resort is located in a beautiful, quiet area surrounded by nature.
Location is great.
Friendly personnel
Bad:
Mold in bathrooms
Rooms not cleaned properly
Leaky roof
Outdated
Dangerous water damage
Stains everywhere
*this was the captain suite and it was the most unclean place we have ever stayed in. There were insect nests in the walls. The whole bungalow is falling apart. There's mold in the bathrooms and the whole thing looks like it's a bad storm from falling apart. They shouldn't be allowed to rent this particular bungalow out just because of its unsafe conditions. We had no option to stay somewhere else because everything was booked out elsewhere. I've never felt more uncomfortable or gross sleeping anywhere else. The only thing that made it bearable was the location, the ocean, the pool, and the view, which we enjoyed under the circumstances. I was with 2 small kids and it made me sad to have them sleep in these conditions. We tried to make the best but if you have a choice, don't stay here.
