Nangyuan Island Dive Resort

We stopped by on a snorkeling tour. The boat dropped us off and wouldn't allow us to take any food or drinks ashore. They want you to spend money on the island. The bathrooms were nasty and you had to pay to wash the sand off of you. The whole island felt like a big scam. The snorkeling was the worst so far in Thailand. On the harbor side where the boats come in is beautiful, but they would not let us swim there. We were just frustrated and ready to leave soon after arriving. The lookout was very pretty though.

It is 100baht a person to set foot on this private island. Then they confiscate your fins and any plastic bottles because “they’re environmentally friendly” at this island. HAHAHAHA-but they give out 2-3 straws with every single drink. Give me a break. This is the biggest money making scam ever.

As soon as you get to the island at 10am. Run to try and secure a chair and umbrella. It’ll cost you 150baht each but it’s worth it. But good luck getting one as you’ll literally run and fight people for them.

In the end, this island is super super busy and there are so many people. It is truly beautiful but ruined like most places. Didn’t see and turtles or sharks snorkeling. The coral is all dead. Some cool fish and a giant clam that’s it. This island is boardline 3-4 stars. AND THE STAFF THAT RUN IT ARE EXTREMELY RUDE AND all they want is your money. 100BAHT 100BAHT!!! As you enter the gates.

Lots of garbage too!!! Everywhere.

The only two good things is that you have the island for yourself after 5pm and before 9am.

Having read all the bad comments we went anyway.

First I’ve been trying to ask them question for 2 weeks and I have the answer of just one of them, I kept emailing but they either say exactly the same as before or ignore my message. I asked if they have a card machine, they said at the moment is broken but I’ve seen comments from a year ago saying it was wroken. I asked if they have any deposit (no), how we get to the island (you find your way) and if we had to pay the 100bht fee (no), this thre last question I had to find out by myself.

You get to the room as everything looks perfect, then you start looking, and there’s a kettle buts there’s no coffee or tea? There’s no plugs but one or two behind the TV which doesn’t work. Our fridge wasn’t stocked cause someone came later with two beers, you only had in the bridge those two beers, 2 cokes and 2 sprite. Oh and the free water.

We went to get some lunch and there was no buffet as they say, we were sent to the beach bar where I asked the lady what was inside the vegetarian spaghetti she said 160bht and I said oh no I want to know what is inside, she ripped my paper from the notebook put it in the bin and said next!!!
We went to reception to get explain and she took us to the host restaurant and he took care of our food, he was nice. I wanted to ask for a baked dish and I got told that was 45min and to choose from the spaghetti!!!!! Seriously??

We decided to go for a swim in front of our bungalow which is the one you to downstairs and have the beach. Just before going in all this brown liquid(which I believe was sewage) start coming from the bungalows and pool, it smelt disgusting and it went straight to the sea!!!!!! I’ve got a video of this.

They say no to bring plastic bottles or not to put towels on the sand cause this obviously ruins the island but then they don’t care if people do it, the island is full of plastic on the rocks and beach and they don’t clean it!! I think we pay enough for them to clean it? There was also glass bottles left in the sand which is even worse, as it can cut you if broken.

We went for our Valentine’s dinner, being this day you expect some kind of show or some decorations or something. Well there was nothing, we waited long time for our meals which we got 20min separately and my boyfriend already finished his (there were 7 and 9 chips on the plates, we counted them) and as soon as I got my plate we asked for more chips and it took me 15 minutes to eat the meat they gave me cause it was hard like a rock and we waited another 15 minutes for the chips which came with 11 chips!! We paid for that dinner 600 bht, the only good things the ice coffee and the ice chocolate. We asked for dessert and we were told they only had banana, fruit salad or pancake. That’s it, and there were way more on the menu. It’s Valentine’s! People is gonna ask for brownies and ice cream and all of that!!

It was almost 8 and we decided to go to the bar to get some cocktails cause the restaurant doesn’t offer anything, just two beers, no they don’t have the Chang,(the bar it’s supposed to closed at 9/10), it was closed already!!! What is people supposed to do after 7 when it’s dark?!?!
We went for breakfast and we saw that there was not much selection except from some toast, some sort of pasta which had flies all over it, same with the ham, or eggs and fruits(which were hot). The jam was a outside in a pot and nothing has lids. They also brought the rice after the everyone had eaten breakfast.

Also shuttle boat was 30min lates that we could have enjoyed having a swim.

It ruined our Valentine’s Day! People is paying a lot of money to stay there and the service is terrible!!! Lazy.

Come prepared to be ripped off. Great place but just come prepared, also do your math when getting money back or paying for things. I was ripped twice, I'm not the kind of person to make scene so I let it go but she knew what she was doing (food and drink area).
