We had a emergency one night stay because another hotel was so bad we didn't want to stay. Without asking, they send a golf cart to pick us up on the other side of the bay. We were greeted with a warm welcome, and the AC was already running in our room.

The room itself was clean and well-prepared. Some small thing could be fixed, but that's all.

Only downside is that it was a little expensive for our standards, but the service made this worth it.

Came for a couple days of climbing and it was amazing. The staff are super nice and the rooms were comfortable and clean. Great getaway! It was the off season (June) and it felt like we had the place to ourselves.

Please note that you cannot access this resort unless by boat or able bodied and can hike through a steep walkway to access Tonsai Beach. Another note is that during May to September the resort shuts off the power during certain hours of the day. There are no ATMS in Tonsai and limited in food choices, but that’s the gorgeous price you pay for having a beach all to yourself!

My partner and I walked here from RaiLay Beach through the Tonsai Beach Nature Trail (see google maps). It’s about 10 minutes of a walk that is steep and has a rope to help with the steepest parts. We did this walk with our travelling backpacks and flipflops in wet season although it wasn’t raining at the time, we found this walk to be quite easy for us but I can imagine harder for older folks, young children and anyone who may find hiking up a steep slope and then down a steep slope challenging.

If you stay here, make sure that you visit the local shops behind the resort. They are very quiet but have incredible food. They were forced to move behind the wall in 2016 by a huge hotel franchise that built the wall and displaced the locals, and then abandoned their own plans to built a hotel. We have been to Mama Chicken and ate some of the best Thai food yet. Buy your water from these shops.

The room is very simple. We had to move rooms on the first night because the aircon stopped working. The beds are old and a bit stinky, we had to ask to get our linen changed a few times. The rooms don’t have great views, again they’re very simple.

Images are of the beach that is 250m from our door.

A lot of people come here for the bouldering and rock climbing, we saw many on the route in along the wall. There is a rock climbing shop here where you can go twice a day with a guide and they provide all the equipment.

Highly recommend taking a walk around the back of the resort to find the local shops.

We stayed in superior room for 1night.

Staff are kind and helpful.
They sent and pickup us to restaurant outside of resort with golf cart :)
It was helpful since we stucked with rain.

When off season (Rainy season) they stops electric 10am-12pm and 3pm -5pm, but while our staying it wasn't happened.

Room was clean, view from balcony is beautiful.

It was great stay in Tonsai beach for escap from hustle and bustle☺️

We have stayed here on and off for at least 20 years. It has gone more upmarket over the years and expanded substantially. A good place for a quiet getaway from the chaos of places like Phuket. My wife is a keen rock climber and there are plenty of choices of challenging climbs, and local guides to make sure you are in safe hands.

Had ants in my bed, they changed my room immediatly though.
But all in all overpriced for the room you get.

The location is beautiful, but secluded. So more chill, you can only go there by boat.
To railway beach you have to get on a small hiking path.

I think there are better places to stay at, for the same price.

They never added this to the hotel description, but you can only reach through hotel by boat which was a shocking surprise for us.

Rooms require some renovation. No bath in the bathroom and the shower stream is weak and not well isolated from the toilet.

Conditioning is very loud. The heat out device is also installed on a tiny balcony, so if you were to go out from the cool room you’ll get into a sauna even stronger than outdoor. So the only way to use a balcony is to turn off the conditioning well before you go out, which apparently doesn’t make sense.

No laundry service in the hotel.
No safe locker in the room.

Internet was OK.

The location is generally pretty good, but the infrastructure is poor. You better go on Railay beach nearby. It has much more cafes and other facilities.
And if you want to visit the Tonsai bay, just go on foot, there’s a rocky but relatively short trail connecting these beaches. 10 mins by boat is also an option.

What was good
- Beautiful nature

What was bad
- The furniture was old and lacked nightstands and hangers
- Repairs are long overdue
- Internet speed is slow, and often stops working for short periods
- If you plan to buy excursions to snorkeling, the cost of 1500 baht per person, I do not recommend it, as the live reef you will not see, will take you to neighboring islands, where, in fact, the same snorkeling as here.
- Breakfasts are meager and monotonous
- Through the cracks in the windows, climb all kinds of insects in the room

We came back with a tummyache and they cared a lot about us and had us supplied with all the stuff you need in such a Situation - like elektrolytes and toast.
They even booked us a Private boat from ao nang to tonsai which was a little expensive but it is quite hard to get a longtailboat after 6pm.
In total it was a nice stay, especially in terms of location and landscape and was not too crowded with people like many other beaches in the area.

The atmosphere here was awesome with all the people and rock climbing. There's a hike in the forest if u walk to the end of the beach n turn right. U walk up to the rasta restaurant n find a path way on the left where u walk through the jungle to get to the other beach on the other side of the island.. beautiful.
