Orchid Riverview Hotel

This is great hotel for the value. Close to a couple riverside restaurants and river front walk. Clean and modern with good service. Only downside is the hot water takes a while to reach tge bathrooms depending on where you are in the hotel

The breakfast was good with various Thai items and fried eggs, bread, sausage, tea, coffee, cereals, etc. The Thai food was different everyday and not much of repetition. The western food was more or less the same items almost everyday.
The room was spacious and very clean. The hotel is fairly new and well maintained. The staff was very supportive and helpful. Lunch is also served in the hotel.
Dinner: the options are to cross the bridge (which is less than 100 meters from the property entrance) and you can walk for 10 to 20 minutes to access various restaurants. There is one, on the river front, which is about 5 minutes walk from the hotel. On weekends there are a few Thai local food restaurants (These are open for lunch everyday), within walking distance and these are tasty and cheap.
There is a nice park "Ko Lamphu", which is about 7 minutes walk from the hotel. This is an island with facilities for walking, jogging, cycling, workouts, etc. This park attracts a lot of local as well as expats. I did use this place for my walks in the mornings. The parking lot for cars tend to get full as a lot of people do drive down to exercise.

Balcony: The balcony is very small (about 3 x 4 feet). Two persons on this balcony would be a crowd.
Providing a small desk (for using laptop or to drink tea/coffee) wopuld enhance the value of the room.
Also providing additional closet space/drawers for storing clothes would also enhance the value of the room.

Surprised by the hotel and the staff in a positive way.

Room and hotel were one of the cleanest I've experienced in Thailand.

Only three star hotel, but a better cleanliness than most four or five star hotels I visited in Thailand/ China and even some places in Germany.

Staff was friendly and helpful, especially the doorman.

Breakfast offered is Thai with a few options for westerners.
Downside: coffee offered is instant coffee.

Apart from that, rooms have little to no soundproofing.
You will hear your neighbours/ they'll hear you.

Seven eleven/ Tesco and a pharmacy next to the hotel.
Floating market close by as well.

If I return to the city I'll stay there again.

After weeks of beach bungalows it was lovely to have some class at a really good price. Perfect location by the big bridge for exploring underated Surat Thani. Massive rooms with small balcony's, indoor pool and Gym.
No restaurant, but so much around you on the streets.
Very professional service.
We paid £20 which was what we paid for a grubby bungalow on the islands.
About a 30 min ride to Surat Thani Airport.
7/11 and Lotus 2 min walk.
Bus stations 10 min walk

Nice clean quiet new cheap next to convenince store, opposite have a nice seafood restaurant

It's new. Modern design, spacious rooms. Great location.

Great place. Comfortable rooms for good price. Breakfests are the best!
