Kulube Hotel

Came here for a 10 days, and it simply wasn’t long enough. The hotel is nothing short of beautiful. It’s in an idyllic location, situated on a cliff with several layers with 3 pools and a cove at the bottom. Never did I think I’d be so glad not to see sand. The water is crystal clear and the sunbeds are well spaced and there is never any hassle picking one. The pools are quiet, practically empty at most times. The staff are incredible. They’ll do anything for you, whether that’s burning stuff to the room or just going above and and beyond to keep you happy. Big thanks especially to the man at breakfast, and the man with curly hair at reception during the day and the young boy ar the pool bar. The staff work long hours yet always manage to keep a smile on their face. Best hospitality I’ve seen in a while. The hotel room was great, spacious with 2 small balconies, a larger balcony and an outdoor seating area which was really private. The breakfast food is typical Turkish, simple and clean. The town is very good, it’s clean and not too touristy. It’s well looked after and is perfect for older couples. If you have mobility issues the steps will be an issue as there is a lot of them. But it’s nothing too challenging. And the steps down to the cove are DEFINITELY worth it. We generally dislike hotels and usually stay in villas, however we have been pleasantly surprised. We will return here in a heartbeat and we are already looking to book for next year. Can’t recommend enough. Let’s just hope kalkan stays as it is and doesn’t get too lost in touristy world.

This hotel is in a fantastic part of Kalamar Bay outside of Kalkan, it's built on a hillside so it's all steps and a walk into Kalkan takes half an hour (slow pace in heat) On exiting the hotel you have to face cardiac Hill or the beer thirst builder as I called it, you'll need a cold drink afterwards for sure.

We had room 202 which is in the annexe, modern room with huge two level balcony and decent sea views, my only issue was the cushions on the furniture were dirty and the floors had not been swept, two rusty nails I nearly stood on, even the room floor could have been cleaner on arrival. Maybe the room was used for first time this season.

Food was good we had both lunch (burger and chips) and beer priced about 5€ for large Efes 500ml bottle the same as most places. Evening meal was also good and the setting is as good as anywhere in Kalkan to dine, beautiful by the coast, nice lighting.

This hotel has 3 pools one is saltwater, nobody really used them, they are good.

You can also swim in the sea with waiter service at your lounger.

Room had mini bar, I used it for my own drinks, no issue. There is no catering appliances in the room and nearest shop is up the cardiac hill.

Tours can be booked onsite if you wish for boat trips etc.

Reception will also order taxis for you, 220TL into Kalkan.

Our checkout was 12pm collection at 4, they held the cases in the office and let us used shower and changing rooms at Turkish baths so we were fresh for travel.

Can't fault this place, even when they tried to charge me for 2 cocktails at checkout which I never had, once they realised their mistake they gave us 2 drinks on the house to apologise.

Local cat with broken paw slept on our sofa on balcony, they said the vet already examined it. Cat is very friendly and seems happy.

So book with confidence but remember, it's steps hills and more steps but it's worth it.

PS Also very highly recommend a boat trip to Meis (kastellorizo), stunning place and also Salikent gorge day trip.

I’m sitting at the Kulube Hotel, on my last morning, having just had breakfast, overlooking the beautiful bay and feeling so sad to be leaving. This is only a 3 star but more like a boutique, high end 5 star hotel. It’s small, friendly, family run hotel in the most stunning location. It’s built into the hillside, lots of steps going down the hill to the restaurants and beach but don’t let that put you off. Our room was brand new, modern and exceptionally clean, as we found the entire hotel. It’s peaceful, serene and we often had the beautiful pools to ourselves. There is waiter service to sunbeds, wherever you choose to spend your time. The breakfast is buffet style, traditionally Turkish but healthy, plenty of fruit, cheeses, meats and salad as well as omelettes made to order. No British bacon, eggs etc in site. The food for lunch or dinner is lovely quality and not expensive. The staff really look after you and can’t do enough. The hotel is not going to be suitable for people wanting loud music playing around pools or wanting staff organising activities or needing entertainment as there is nothing like this at the Kulube. But, if you want peace, quiet and relaxation in a stunning setting where the sweet scent of hibiscus greets you in the morning, you will love it. If you want to venture out, reception will order taxis to take you into Kalkan at £3 each way. There’s plenty of night life here, shops, restaurants, bars and clubs. Another added bonus of the Kulube, for anyone wanting to scuba dive, there’s a 5 star PADI school next door. Overall, really sad to be going home today but will come back soon, like lots of others. There are lots of people I’ve met on their 2nd or 4rd stay here which speaks volumes. Well done Kulube and thank you for a beautiful week!

Just had a great week at the Kulube hotel in Kalkan. Fantastic location with beautiful sea views and of the coast line. Excellent friendly service at the pool bar. Very tasty meze at the beach bar restaurant. Great Spa, my husband had the best Turkish bath and deep tissue massage. Nice room with great sea views and a delicious breakfast every morning served Al fresco at the breakfast restaurant. Only £5 taxi ride into the centre of Kalkan where there are literally hundreds of great restaurants and bars. We had an amazing private meal served to five of us for my husband’s sister’s birthday at Mina Art. Fantastic steak dinner at Chata restaurant on the open roof terrace and excellent live music at Zircus bar and the Sandal bar.

What a hidden gem. Fantastic sea views, friendly staff, 3 pools, sunbathing decking with steps into the crystal clear sea. Great breakfast with plenty of choice, including freshly cooked omelettes.

The most wonderful holiday perfectly chilled and relaxing. Really enjoyed our stay. Breakfast was basic but could always find something . Unfortunately the restuarant at hotel was limited . The bar at the top pool was not serving food and was not always open for.drinks which was a.shame . We went out every evening which was just a short trip.in a taxi. Rooms was large and cleaned daily lovely terrace with wonderful views but Unfortunately it was shared with the neighbour ,i would of preferred a private balcony.or terrace pools were clean and relaxing and beach club area was also lovely ., always found a sun lounger. Staff were all friendly and helpful would deffo return.

Second time here and we really do like it. It's very peaceful so if you prefer the kind of hotel with music playing by the pool and activities then Kulube won't tick your boxes. It's so quiet and relaxing here... There's been days when we've had the pool to ourselves, which is amazing. No rush for sun loungers by the pool or by the private bay. My only grumbles are the number of steps - which can't be helped due to the geography of the area - but also the Internet access. The WiFi in the rooms is nothing short of awful. Keeps dropping out and hanging, I wonder if the system is overheating. It's certainly something that needs to be looked at by the management.
