Westmark Anchorage Hotel

Staying at the Westmark Anchorage was the low point of an absolutely amazing Alaskan vacation. The room was comfortable, great location downtown, the front desk service left a lot to be desired. Our room was on the third floor, facing the street. Traffic and noise from people all night long kept us awake the first two nights. We asked to be moved to a higher floor or a different area of the hotel and we were told that there were no rooms available. We asked for a fan to help with white noise. The first day we were told one was not available. The second day we were told one would be delivered to our room. It was not. Found a white noise app on line and used it. Finally got a fan on day three. We were there for four nights prior to the land portion of our cruise. Booked hotel through Holland America in order to be able to use transfers. The hotel is full every night with cruise line business. The front desk does not have to go above and beyond to keep guests comfortable/happy.

Outside of needing a good update to the rooms (popcorn ceiling, old scratched and dented furniture), the rooms are absolutely filthy. Our room had a poop or blood stain by the bathroom threshold at hand level. Dust and hair in the floor of the bathroom. And a cup with cigarettes in the balcony.
Our room also had a massive water stain in the wall and water damage in the ceiling.
This was booked through Holland America as part of our Alaska cruisetour and it really soured a great vacation. Thankful we only have to sleep one night here.

Hallway and rooms had a foul musty mechanical greasy smell when the people next door were not smoking marijuana on their balcony. The wind drifting in through our broken sliding glass door that wouldn't close or lock. The Carpets had dust filth from previous occupants and stays, that paired nicely with the staining along the walls. Bed was actually clean and comfortable

Staff was Ho Hum, Phone rings and rings Mailbox full so you have to keep calling back and praying someone picks-up. Called through the back reservation line to some other place and have now been on hold for 15 minutes trying to get an invoice. The reservation people are nice so far.

I will sleep in my truck before staying here again.
