Lord Baltimore Hotel

We were required to book this hotel through a travel agency for a competition at the convention center. When we arrived at the hotel, the valet and bell team were very attentive. We were early for our check in but were told our room would be available in about half an hour and to wait in the lobby for them to call us. After nearly an hour, the front desk staff asked us if we were all checked in or needed anything. I informed that we were waiting for a room still and they were going to check on it. Around 15 minutes later, I inquired about the status because we had a timeline to follow for our competition. The staff were very short and cut me off but said the room would be available in a few minutes. We booked a double queen room and the staff at the desk acknowledged that it was a double queen room and they only had a few left so were working on it. When we finally got to the room, it was a sweltering hot king room that had a full bed placed in it. We were fine with the bed arrangement but would have liked for the staff to tell us instead of telling us it would be a double queen. We turned on the ac (or so we thought) and left the hotel. When we returned our room was even hotter than when we left and we called the front desk for help. Housekeeping came and explained how to use the thermostat. We called the desk again and asked for someone else to come check the air conditioner. Someone came to fix it but it was completely broken. In all, the process from calling about the ac to getting a new room took about an hour. We were placed in an even smaller kind room and they brought us the full bed from the other room. The manager, Abraham, was kind and helpful and comped us $50/night but this overall was frustrating. When we went to check out, we called the front desk for a bell member to bring a cart. When one did not come after 30 minutes, we went downstairs for a cart to find the front desk had not notified the bell at all. At check out, we asked to split the cost of the room on two cards. The desk said yes, absolutely, and then just charged one card. Overall, the desk staff were very lacking in kindness or helpfulness throughout the entire weekend. We ate in the restaurant one night. It was very busy and a little slow due to the business but the food was good and reasonably priced. The hotel was clean and well maintained but we would not stay here again due to the difficulty with the rooms and the staff.

Check in at the hotel was a bit of a mess. Room wasn't ready until 1hr after the 4:30 check in time and they did not give any advance notice. The staff seemed very overwhelmed by the amount of guests that day. The bar was closed, so there wasn't much to do while waiting for the room besides sit in the lobby.

The room itself was good. Comfy beds and everything was clean. Fair for the price, but nothing too special. Felt a little small for our party of 3, but good if you aren't planning on being in the room too much.

Trying to get our car at checkout was tough. The valet attendant said it would take about an hour to get our car if we waited. He instead gave us the address of where the cars are kept so I could pick it up myself, just a 5 minute walk away. Considering the late check in + having to get my own car, I would have expected they offer a discount on the $33 valet parking they charged.

If this is the only hotel with availability, staying here is fine, but there are definitely better hotels in the area.
