The staff seemed really nice. It was the security of the hotel that was lacking. There room key in times are not recorded which I find strange because hotel staff has the opportunity to go into any room at any time.

Also we had a do not disturb sign up and received multiple knocks through out the day which is ok but seems to be alarming in a given prospective.

We did have some items go missing through out our stay and nothing was done except an exchange of contact information but that was it.

So take this review with a grain of salt because this was just our experience. I am sure they are on point 99% of the time.

Hotel management hire security for your hotel!!!

Style over function. Dark and moody vibe throughout. Great city views, but ill-positioned room furniture diminishes the experience. Empty shower dispensers. Requests for fresh towels and service items were ignored.

Just spent 2 nights at this hotel. It’s in a good location. Safe and walkable to several restaurants and shops. It’s run down. The staff is average to below average. Bar was closed. Apparently only 1 bartender “who has Covid.” Toilet did not flush well. Water seemed to have issues with air in lines every time I turned on the sink. Housekeeping was not done at all. Phone in room did not work to call down and request housekeeping or iron and ironing board. Tried to call main hotel number I googled from my mobile phone and received a “mailbox is full” after no answer. Hallways are HOT and musty smelling. My neighbors played their TV loud ALL night, but again, I had no phone to call the desk and ask them to address it. Will NOT stay here again. Property needs a full renovation.

I recently had the displeasure of staying at the Aloft Birmingham Soho Square, and I was extremely disappointed with the state of the hotel. The property was in a state of disrepair, with stains on the carpets in the hallways and rooms, and scruff marks on the walls. The hallway was uninviting and dingy, and the mold in the shower was a real eye-opener. To make matters worse, there were holes in the walls that had been patched over but not painted, giving the room a feeling of neglect.

My first room was equipped with a non-working air conditioning unit, which made for a very uncomfortable stay. When I complained to the front desk, they merely switched me to another room, which was only slightly better. The second room had a cord to raise the blinds that were not attached to the wall, stains on the floor, and mold in the shower. The option to walk barefoot in the room was non-existent. The lack of attention to detail was alarming and showed that the hotel was not taking its responsibilities seriously.

The staff at check-in was friendly, but when I raised my concerns about the air conditioning, their attitude changed. The maintenance personnel was sitting on the lobby couch on his phone and showed no interest in helping to resolve the issue. When I informed the front desk of the problem, the maintenance personnel merely told them to put the room out of order for 30 days so he could fix it, and then went back to sitting on the couch. This lack of customer service was unacceptable and demonstrated a disregard for the comfort and well-being of guests.

Furthermore, as a Marriott rewards member, I was not given any recognition I was disappointed that the hotel was not making an effort to acknowledge its loyalty program members, especially given the poor quality of the hotel.

In conclusion, I would not recommend the Aloft Birmingham Soho Square to anyone. The hotel is in a state of disrepair, the staff are uninterested in helping guests, and the lack of attention to detail is unacceptable. I would suggest choosing another hotel, such as the Courtyard or The Valley from Hilton, which offers better quality and customer service. Save yourself the disappointment and steer clear of this hotel.

The staff was amazing and incredibly friendly however the condition of the hotel was just terrible. The rooms were run down. The pillows were terrible. The mattresses were old and it doesn’t appear like there had been any maintenance done or upkeep on the rooms in several years.
