I love the courtyard- had a great drink with my friend and my dogs got to hang out. The staff was so dog friendly!

AWESOME hotel! We had every intention of exploring Boise the one night we stayed in town. But we didn’t want to leave the hotel we were having such a good time. Great vibe, great cocktails, great service, incredible food - what’s better? Our room was clean and comfortable. We loved our stay! Will definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Boise. And it’s dog friendly too, which is always a bonus when we can bring the pup with us!

An overall fantastic hotel! The check in process was easy thanks to a friendly and efficient staff. Parking right in front, no issues. Had a great time at the bar with their generous wine pours and excellent cheese board. Visited with folks who drop in just to hang out at the bar. The room was very clean and you could tell It was an old motel they remodeled and did an excellent job at. The shower was a step in modern design. Thank you, I will be staying here again!

The Modern Hotel is trendy, retro and non-pretentious all at the same time. The restaurant food was excellent. It has an intentional 1940s or 50s vibe, which is a lot of fun. I could easily walk to the Boise Center and other downtown locations.

This is the place to stay in Boise. The staff was very friendly. The room was clean and spotless and the towels were large and soft. The walk in shower was amazing and well appreciated after spending the day seeing the sights of downtown Boise. The location is perfect. The complimentary breakfast was delicious

Great location, right by the green belt, state capitol, and restaurants! The Uber service to/from the airport and the free bike rentals were a HUGE plus, coupled with the amazing restaurant on site (with a great simple complimentary breakfast, too!)
Really a fun weekend away and you never need to touch your car - we did cafes, farmers market, wineries, breweries, museums, a lot of hanging out on the greenbelt in the Boise river and under the trees in the park.. it was awesome! 💯 thanks Modern for a great weekend 👋

As always the service is amazing, we had requests they accommodated. The drinks were inventive and the food excellent. If you're looking for quiet don't expect it due to size. So be aware that it may be loud. However, if you want one of the best drinks/wine/taplists in town with amazing seasonal food look no further. The Modern has never disappointed!

Restaurant/bar: Excellent food and cocktails, and friendly service. Eclectic, well-curated list of wine and beer. Try the pork terrine! Courtyard patio is a perfect place for small groups/couple to enjoy nice weather.
Hotel: desk staff are very friendly and knowledgeable of the area. Rooms have been updated and have soft, comfortable mattresses and pillows, big showers with two heads, but beware the courtyard rooms near the restaurant - if you're a light sleeper and it's a warm evening you may be kept awake by their customers.

Ravers, shaman and other seekers of truth have long been familiar with the notion of 'Set & Setting'. The Gents felt this concept acutely on a recent trip to Boise where we dropped into The Modern for dinner. The nondescript patio seating initially set modest expectations, but once we began sampling the food our moods quickly lifted.
Starters included smoked trout coupled with compound butter on a piece of square rye, and morels laced with asparagus underneath a fried egg. Our journey continued with mains like brisket with greens and pickled veggies as well as sizable gnocchi dotted with goat cheese. A steady flow of mezcal cocktails rounded out the delicious fare. As the meal came to a close, and with a moment to reflect on our experience as we sipped Fernet, the group came to realize that with food this good the setting was irrelevant.
The staff was gracious and courteous throughout, next time we'll book an evening at the hotel for the full experience.

Stylish, but very low quality for the price.
The rooms are remodeled and styled very nicely. The mid century modern furniture and nicely accented walls really give this place a nice aesthetic. The shower was really nice. The bathroom was kind of weird, though. MASSIVE room with just a toilet on one side with the shower on the other (not really a problem, just weird.)
The problem I had with my stay was with the quality of the building, and the bed.
The front door leading to the exterior wasn’t sealed. I could see daylight around almost the entire door. I could feel a significant draft. The weather was nice, so it wasn’t a big issue for me but it’s of extremely pathetic quality.
I was awakened in the morning to foot steps in the interior hallway, and doors slamming, shaking the room. This is an old building with seemingly no attempt at structural improvement. Seems that sound deadening and insulation was not even a slight consideration in the remodel. I could also clearly hear conversations in the hallway. The interior door/wall leading to the hallway seemed paper thin.
The bed was quite firm. Maybe some people like this but my shoulders hurt when I woke up.
The room was listed at $130 plus tax, and at this price I really can’t recommend due to the poor quality. It’s unfortunate, because the styling is superb. Staff is friendly, too.
Bar is nice. I’ll go back for drinks.
