Rooms with a sense of history

This is a hotel that has witnessed the changes of this city. Although it has a history of 152 years, the hotel facilities are still well maintained and the service attitude is also excellent, leaving us with unforgettable memories.

EVERYONE IS SO KIND! Traveled alone with my daughters and nephew for my oldest daughter’s birthday. I was concerned it wouldn’t be the best environment for kids, but we were warmly welcomed despite their rambunctiousness. We had a wonderful experience — dined at the lounge and otherwise spent most of our time in the pool. I love that everything we needed was right there in the hotel. Starbucks, dinner, etc. The location is perfect for exploring downtown, but we intended to spend our time solely at the Read House. It is absolutely stunning! A wonderfully preserved piece of history which creates the illusion of stepping back in time.

The Read House was such a wonderful experience in every way. The staff was kind and accommodating. The building itself is rich and beautiful. I highly recommend. We stayed in room 303 (right down the hall from the haunted 311). The ghost tour was spooktacular! It’s also so close to amazing attractions in Chattanooga. Check it out!

This was our first visit to The Read House but not the last. Everyone was welcoming and friendly. Our room as amazing! The 311 tour, guided by John, he did a fabulous job explaining the history of this beautiful hotel and the events of 311. The food was good and we really enjoyed playing billiards. The beds and pillows were comfortable. If you are looking for a unique experience I would definitely recommend visiting The Read House.

The front desk had a straight face, and valet parking at the door was RMB 25 a day, plus additional tax. The room is large, the hot water is not hot enough, and the bathroom does not have much heat. I dare not take a shower for too long for fear of catching cold. The hotel itself is nice, has a sense of history and is well maintained.

Had a wonderful stay at the Read House for my nephew's wedding. The reception dinner was perfectly executed and everyone was professional and warming. Lovely historic hotel. My king premier room was exceptional. Everyone I encountered was delightful, from the front desk to housekeeping to the bartenders. I would highly suggest this hotel for a special event or holiday. And to add, I met fabulous people who were also staying there. Thank you, Read House, for a delightful weekend.

I cannot say enough about how amazing this beautiful historic hotel is. We’ve stayed here four times, two of those being for the Roaring 20’s New Year’s Eve party, which is absolutely spectacular, and fun beyond words! We’ve stayed in the Manor House side, as well as the Historic Tower, which is our favorite. Both experiences were exceptional. The restoration, decor, and attention to detail is phenomenal, and you’re immediately transported back in time to the luxury and opulence of a fine 1920’s feel. Staff is top-notch, especially bellman John, who also gives entertaining ghost tours of Annalisa’s room 311, which also housed Al Capone. This free tour is an added bonus, and speaks to the historical importance as well as the “fun-factor” the hotel strives to deliver. I simply do not understand anyone giving a negative review, seeing firsthand on numerous occasions the care that is consistently taken to provide an excellent experience at all levels. The fountain pool is lovely, food and atmosphere in both locations is exceptional. Waitresses in the Billiards Room lobby bar celebrate “flapper hour” with dresses and delicious specialty cocktails. The desk staff, bellmen, and valets are courteous, welcoming and professional. The hardworking event and decorating staff keep the place sparkling and ready to host many kinds of unforgettable events. We look forward to returning year after year!

Very lovely old, old hotel in downtown Chattanooga. We had dinner at the hotel restaurant and both the food as well as service were excellent!

Read Hotel is a beautiful historic hotel. The lobby is classic and our Manor room was well appointed. We encountered two problems though. The front desk clerk was very short with us at checkin and seemed annoyed to answer our questions about valet parking. But, most importantly, our room was so very noisy at night. The walls are paper thin and we heard every conversation in the neighboring room. Also, the doors in our hallway closed with a loud bang every time a guest closed their door. It was one of the worst nights of sleep we have ever encountered in a hotel. At checkout the clerk did not greet us except to ask if we wanted our receipt printed or emailed. No “How was your stay?” was asked. We chose not to complain to her at checkout as she didn’t seemed concerned about us as guests.
