Courtyard Chesapeake Greenbrier

From now on, I will check the reviews and call the hotel before making reservations. This hotel was 1 of the 6 that my group of 300 selected for the weekend. Because it is a Marriott, some of us selected this one. About 2 wks after making the reservation, we were notified of renovations. But I didn't realize it was this massive. We were SHOCKED when we arrived after a 7-hour ride. Look at the attached pictures. Each time we entered and exited, this was what we saw. We had a long meeting on Friday
night and was awakened by construction noise outside of our windows on Saturday morning. If possible, they should close down that side of the hotel. The staff was accommodating and the room was clean. The room rate should be drastically reduced due to the inconvenience . Next, they will do the interior. Can not recommend this place.

Not what I expected from a typical courtyard. The first thing I noticed when I stepped off the elevator was the smell. It smells horrible. Stale and stagnant air. This is not a new thing either, I had a friend who stayed here as well back in November of last year and said the same thing. The rooms smell like mold from the Air conditioners. It's so strong, I had to go buy air fresheners just to make it withstandable. It could do with some updates too because it looks old. I have to come back next week and will be choosing one of the many other options available around me.

It's fine. The first room we got smelled like pot smoke, and the front desk staff was fine about giving us another room. Beds were comfy (if a little firmer than I'm used to) and the bathroom was clean, and that's all I really need. The pool is permanently closed, but you can still see pictures of it by the fitness center. They don't list it in the amenities though, so I can't fault them for that. There's a little cafe thing downstairs, where it looks like you could get coffee or a beer, but the lobby has been largely vacant while I've been here. Things like the elevators and the carpets have clearly seen better days. Also, no free breakfast, so keep that in mind while planning. There's a bunch of really solid restaurants and stores around here, so that's nice. Not walkable, but just a few minutes in the car. I've been to other Courtyards and have been more impressed, but perhaps those were just newer? All in all, totally fine, but nothing special.

Enjoy the food at the Bistro. The manager Ashley does a great job and the drinks ate great too!
