Reviews
Best of all, however, was the staff. Everyone greeted us from housekeeping to the front desk. Breakfast is set up buffet style, and I had grabbed a cinnamon roll. Before I could start eating, an employee came over and traded my roll out so I could have one fresh from the oven. I would have been fine with the first one, but I was impressed that she was sweet enough to get me a fresh cinnamon roll. You can have the prettiest hotel in the world, but friendly staff makes all the difference, and this place has it!
Nice bed... however, I had a hard time getting into it because it was so high, seriously. So, unless you're tall, you'll need to jump or use the chair from the corner. While most people are willing to overlook a little, it was late, so I let it go for the night. Regardless of this being a historical building, the maintenance of the guest areas, elevators, and rooms should be reviewed by management. Deep cleaning in the rooms should be done more regularly. The bathroom tile floor grout was mildewed deeper than may have been able to be cleaned/ bleached. But, the wallpaper had lots of little toothpaste spatter, there was a spider in the tub, and hair and other dirt on the floor, Although it looked like it had superficially been wiped down, it was not clean. The carpet in the room was visibly dusty in the corners and under the very high bed, since you could easily see under it...(a plus and minus). Last thing, guest parking should be lit better..
While I really liked the quaint atmosphere, I will choose another location next time.
Rooms need some TLC though. We had a king bed room: ample space but furniture could use some updating. The biggest complaint is the thin walls between rooms. We could hear muffled coughing and TV sounds coming from our neighbor. And similarly, we got a few bags on the wall in the morning when we didn't silence our alarm quickly enough.
The breakfast is decent: similar to most hotel hot breakfasts.
Overall, fine for a night or 2 but probably would look elsewhere for more than that.
