Moody Gardens Hotel Spa and Convention Center

This would have been a 5 star rating. I forgot my purse in the cafe after dinner at the hotel. We were the last to dine there. After 40 or so minutes I remembered that I left it. My cards were still in my purse but was missing over $100. I know at this point there wasn't anything I could do but report it to management. They wrote down the information and said they would get back with me the next day. The cafe manager didn't know anything until I spoke to him during breakfast. He apologized and was kind to comp our meals. I received the phone call from the security at the hotel. Instead of trying to help me out it just felt like he was justifying the staff and vouching for them. I knew I wasn't going to get that money back. I just wanted to inform them that an establishment like shouldn't have dishonest employees. I was robbed and it happened on their time. No one else was in the cafe near our table at closing. To top everything off, the rooms were never clean. As we looked around the room, so we didn't we forget anything, we found a shoe and hair tie that didn't belong to us. Did we complain about that at check out, no. I just wish they could've done better.

The customer service was not great. Front desk staff was extremely rude each time we had interaction with them. Our room was a disaster. The tub wouldn’t drain properly and was so slippery that my husband slipped and fell. Then we had a cockroach the first night. Luckily my husband stepped on it (by accident) when he got up to use the restroom during the night. Our ac was either Arctic level cold or heatwave hot. There was no in between. The hotel itself was just trashy and dirty. For how much you pay to stay here I expected better. The pool area is a joke. Half the lights in the pool didn’t light up so when the sun went down you couldn’t see your kid unless you made them stay in the small area that had the lights (which they loved - not). The music was so ridiculously loud you couldn’t have a conversation with the person next to you. One night we ordered pizza by the pool for dinner. It took forever to get it and when we did it was cold and not even cut. My husband had to take it and have them cut it for us at which time they acted as if it was the most inconvenient thing ever to be asked of them. Not to mention it was the WORST pizza I’ve ever had. I love pizza and usually eat any and all no problem but this stuff was so bad our kids wouldn’t even eat it. Palm Beach is ok but nothing exciting. It’s nice for smaller kids. But the water is gross and lifeguards were more interested in talking with each other than really paying attention to the water. I wouldn’t recommend this place for the price. If you get it for a discount then maybe.

Our room was large, the AC worked wonderfully, and the beds were comfortable. The room service was very good too.
The customer service is severely lacking. Our room on the first floor required either a long walk or taking an elevator to the second floor, walking, walking, walking, and then take a different elevator to the first floor. Ridiculous. The woman behind the counter had a hard time explaining how to get to the room because she figured we should have known already.
The food served was average to below average. The pizza on the menu is only served on the weekends??
The room "key" is your cell phone. The app works very slow and you have to hold your phone by the door lock for up to 30 seconds to get it to open.
This same app opens the gates by the pool. Sometimes. The pool was large, clean, and very nice.
We'll stay somewhere else next time despite the fact that the room itself was very nice. But for the price and the lack of customer service, we'll bail on this one.
