Hilo Reeds Bay Hotel

Excellent location, Right on the water, It's a peaceful area surrounded by many gorgeous parks... The hotel itself is very old they should really take some of their earnings and revise it , It's owned by a semi-large Chinese family and then they take all the parking spots against the building and then the other parking spots are open to the guests, and then there's plenty of street parking, The rooms need the carpet to be cleaned or torn out and they should lay tile or wooden floors, They have a decent kitchen in the room with plenty of cupboards to put items if you're going to stay for a few months,,, The patios are roomy with chairs, The TV is very limited on the channels They should really offer Netflix but they don't, there's a decent size counter in the rooms built into the wall with two chairs which is helpful, They have a small lounge area with books and magazines on the main floor They also have a very nice orange kitty who lives at the hotel , and then there's plenty of kitties on the outside in case you want to go and feed them. I would definitely stay again at this hotel if I go back to Hilo. There's also two really nice hotels right in the same area.

Very clean. Old school key to room. Parking is like playing tetris. I would walk around day only. Quiet so far, at least on the first floor. Feral cats running around don't bother me. Staff very nice, hard to hear sometimes, soft spoken. Price just OK, a little high for no elevator and no a/c.

We stayed for a week total and I came to love the place more each day. The sea breeze kept the room cool and the sound of waves at night perfect for sleeping. There was very little noise from other guests and being able to look out on the park and bay was a real plus. The bed was fine for sleeping and the place was clean. No evidence of bugs or roaches. We stayed on the third floor which I recommend for views and quiet. The owner was very accommodating and gave us a late check out at no charge. As one of the most affordable places to stay in hilo it is the best bang for the buck.

Good value for an ocean view. Close walk to nearby restaurant. The lobby needs work,. The staff is friendly and our room had apartment size refrigerator, microwave and large sink. We didn't have a car so the location was walking distance to what we needed.

The Staff and Owners are so friendly. From the Front desk to the cleaning crew. Most rooms have kitchenettes with good size refrigerators, hot plates and nice counter space. Its always clean and the service staff is very attentive. The beds are comfortable and even the bedspreads are white, so you can SEE they are clean (Although I still pull em down to the foot of the bed...it IS a Hotel lol) The nighttime security guard watches the parking lot like a Hawk! If you want to save a minimum of $100.00 per-night and you can live with ample fans and fresh air instead of Air Conditioning...this is Your Place! If You wish to spend your time in Paradise locked in your room.with AC, then pay $250+ per night down the road!
