Hilton President Kansas City

The positives, this hotel is in a great location, plenty to do within walking distance. The building is beautiful, with early 1900's charm. The lobby is exquisite. Our room was clean. The parking was easy to access.

The not so positive, the rooms themselves were disappointing. They felt old and outdated, the don't have refrigerators and microwaves, you can request them but they have a limited amount on a first come first serve basis. The walls are super thin and you will hear other guests next door or in the hallway. The rooms are small so if you get two beds you are getting two full size not two queen. The mattresses were not comfortable and felt worn out, imo they are old and need to be replaced.

I would stay here again mostly for the location but I would adjust my expectations of a property carrying the Hilton flag.

Let’s start from the beginning. We originally made a reservation for two nights at the Hampton Inn down the road. Due to work, we had to leave late and arrived at the Hampton at 5 AM after a 5-hour drive. When we arrived, I discovered that the Hampton had canceled our reservation without any notice.

At 5 AM, we had nowhere to go to get some sleep, and the front desk at the Hampton didn’t care at all. Their response was essentially, "We don’t care." They told us to make a new reservation but said check-in wasn’t until 3 PM. I had a few important lunch meetings coming up and desperately needed some rest. My wife was understandably very frustrated. How could they cancel our reservation? I still don’t know. Whether I paid for two nights but only stayed one shouldn’t matter.

With nowhere to go, our next step was to find another hotel
—but that’s nearly impossible at 5 AM. Then I thought, let’s try the Hilton President, just a few minutes away. I made a reservation and arrived there 10 minutes later.

Derek was working at the front desk that morning, and I explained the situation. I even offered to pay for an extra early check-in. But Derek said, “You don’t have to. Welcome to Hilton.” He checked us in immediately at 5:30 AM. Derek was incredibly polite, friendly, and professional.

The difference between our experience at the Hampton Inn and the Hilton President was night and day. Derek went above and beyond, making our stay an absolute pleasure. You now have a client for life. Every time we visit Kansas City, the Hilton President will be our only choice.

Derek should train the Hampton Inn staff on hospitality and customer service—they have a lot to learn from him. Thank you, Hilton President, for turning a frustrating experience into a memorable one.

Had a junior suite, front desk was very accommodating getting me in early. No fridge in the room, not a big deal though. Nice quiet old school hotel. Beautiful lobby. Apparently the bar is pretty hopping too, but I was there early in the week so not so much.

I’m really not sure why so many people are knocking this hotel. Stopped at valet and asked directions to the garage, he was very helpful. Rooms were clean and comfortable only miss is no mini fridge. Location is incredible. View of power and light district from our room. Didn’t interact with a lot of staff but when we did they were incredibly helpful and friendly. I was almost scared away by other reviews but glad I didn’t change my plans because this was a perfect stay.

Parking was a bit of a hassle, but that is to be expected in that area. To use the hotel garage, you must check in first. Otherwise, we enjoyed the stay. Room service was fast. Great location. Good views. Quiet room.

Remember to use ʜoᴛᴇʟʙᴏʟʟʏ.ᴄᴏm when booking any stay. This site will compare hundreds of hotel sites and usually will have prices much cheaper than others! Thank me later! This hotel is one of the most well known in the area. I've been coming here for a long time. If you stay for a few days you for sure won't be let down.

Great hotel and I had an excellent view of Main Street. Staff was friendly and helpful. Breakfast was decent. I wish their restaurant would have been open the advertisement in the elevator looked delicious. I will definitely stay here again but make better plans around the different restaurants reservations around the city.

The hotel is exactly as you'd expect a hotel called "President" to be. Dignified and... have you seen many hip, energetic young presidents lately? There were a couple but generally these have been old dudes with lots of character. As is this place. The restaurant was closed (for good?) however the bar served food and it was very reasonably priced and of exceptional quality... try the mashed potatoes, you won't be disappointed! My room was spacious and comfortable but a fraction of a star off for pillows... could be better. Thank you staff and especially Ken at the front desk for a hearty warm welcome!
