Kansas City Marriott Downtown

We travelled to Kansas City last week and took along our newly adopted dog. While we were allowed to have dogs in the hotel, we were charged an additional $75 for this. What did we get for this you may ask? Less service. Our room was not to be cleaned unless specifically asked for, and in that case, dogs had to be removed, even though she was in a sectioned off pen that we brought with. Our dog is blind and deaf, so it wasn’t possible to leave for long periods with her while waiting for room service. On top of this, because no one took care of our room, we had to request for additional items ourselves, like tea, coffee, cups, toilet paper and towels - the basics. So in the end, we were charged more for less services.

Yes the hotel was in a decent area and walking distance to some nice streets to walk around, but I’m appalled at the additional charge and for what.

I've stayed in nicer Motel 6's on the side of I10 outside Odessa with Hookers and Crack Dealers out front.

Dustin Holcumbrink is by far the most awful Hotel Manager I have dealt with in 20 years. I average 100 nights per year with Marriott and Hilton globally and I have never had an experience such as Dustin's complete inability to make a guest happy. Shame on you.

My 12 year old son who recently completed DARE classes in Florida complained to me that his pillow and sheets smelled like Marijuana. The room Reeked of Marijuana. Why does a recently sanitized room smell like weed?

I asked the front desk to move us however that was not possible. I asked for new sheets and towels and pillows and the staff failed to provide citing some excuse about a Privacy Notice on the door.

When I offered to show them pictures and the video of "NO PRIVACY NOTICE" or the video of my son walking into the room and stating it "Smells Like a Skunk". Why?

I reached out to management to get a refund and was offered 2,000 points. Then 5,000 points then escalating to 50,000 points. I never agreed to accept the points in lieu of a refund however it was forced upon me.

After contacting corportate Bonvoy offices they asked me to contact Dustin one more time. I obliged and was met with defiance and an attitude that is not welcomed in the business world.

I issued a chargeback with my credit card company, filed a complaint with the health department in Kansas City as well as the Better Business Bureau.

Dustin lies, he claims to call to make things right but can't back up his phone records or even a screen shot of said calls being made, Dustin lies and makes it seem as if his hotel is 5 Star which it is not.

This behavior would never be tolerated at a real hotel.

My family and my self came to stay here over the weekend. The front desk personal has a bad attitude. We had a friend from the main office book us a room and it was at a better rate. We had all the paper work that we needed to stay here with that rate but the email had a # missing. Besides the fact this problem could have been resolved with a simple call of email . both front desk manager and personal became very disrespectful and short with us. They could have helped resolve the problem but they just treated us like we were going to be paying with food stamp. I asked if we could get our room and pay regular rate until problem was resolved and they said that we couldn't get a room until we did. made no sense, I was tired and traveling with my mother in law who is 75 and kids so all we wanted was a room to get some rest. We ended up at another hotel down the street .... I would not recommend this place the manager was a young man who looked down on you like he owned the place.
