Hey everyone, I just wanted to share my experience at the Sleep Inn at Kansas City Airport. I stayed there recently and wanted to provide a balanced review for anyone considering this hotel for their travels.
First off, I appreciate that the Sleep Inn is advertised as a smoke-free hotel, which is definitely a plus for those of us who are sensitive to smoke. However, I was quite taken aback by the smell in the hallways. While I expected a fresh, clean environment, the strong odor of weed was pervasive and really detracted from the overall experience. It was disappointing, especially given the smoke-free designation.
The rooms themselves were decent and clean, offering the usual amenities you'd expect from a budget hotel. The bedding was comfortable, and I did manage to get a good night's sleep. The staff were friendly and accommodating upon check-in, which added a nice touch to my stay. However, with the unpleasant smell in the hallways, it made me question the hotel's commitment to providing a truly smoke-free environment.
In terms of location, the hotel is convenient for travelers as it's very close to the airport, which is great if you have an early flight. Overall, I’d rate my experience as a 3-star one. While there were some positives, like the helpful staff and clean rooms, the odor issues really put a damper on my stay. I hope the management addresses this problem because it could be a nice place to stay otherwise. Just a heads up for anyone planning to stay here.

Privately owned property, so if you’re looking for a corporate chain through Choices then this specific location isn’t it.
Staff is friendly and professional for a family owned hotel business. Housekeeping staff needs some refresher training (maybe some deep cleaning during their slower days).
Breakfast consist of biscuits and gravy with yogurt, fruit, juice and coffee. The breakfast menu doesn’t change so brace yourself or there’s always Cracker Barrel or Waffle House😂😆🫶🏽🙌🏽

Absolutely not worth the $90 a night. The rooms are tiny and the bathroom are even smaller. They only have a shower , no bathtub. The breakfast was a total joke. Only waffle with syrup and tiny biscuits with gravy. Fruits had mold on them. The AC in the room was so loud. Could not sleep. You can feel all the springs in the mattress. The AC was not working anywhere in the hotel except in the rooms. So the lobby, breakfast area...were so hot and humid.

The entire hotel smelled like weed, the room and bed smelt disgusting and the walls were paper thi. I've stayed at this sleep inn before a few years ago as I fly in and out of KC alot.
This time tho was the worst I have ever experienced. I could not wait to get up and get outta there in the morning. The front desk guys were nice and friendly.
I would avoid this hotel at all cost unless you don't mind weed all throughout the entire hotel, dirty rooms and listing to everyone around you. There was a family that walked in with kids.... i felt so bad for them. Very disappointed 😞

The rooms was clean no complaints there.
The person working front desk was good. The only real complaint is it smelled like someone either released a skunk or was enjoying happy hour on every floor. It was bad enough that had it not been so close to airport we would have left snd found another

Place is a dump. It was always somewhat shabby but good for a night stay before travel. Now it’s downright abhorrent.
Besides being dirty, the breakfast consists of cereal and waffles. Nothing else. No danishes or even a muffin to grab on the way to the airport. How am I going to eat a waffle on the way to the airport?
The crescendo of the state of this hotel is the fact that they are now charging for the airport shuttle! They charge $10 to shuttle to the airport! Despicable.

I was awoken at 1 am by people running in the hallways, slamming doors, and either fighting or playing, bumping into walls, etc. Management did nothing! After listening to this for over an hour, I was finally able to get back to sleep. Upon mentioning this at checkout, the young, male clerk didn't bother to apologize, or even acknowledge this. This tells me it's a common occurrence, or they don't care. I honestly didn't feel safe here, and the hotel staff either can't or won't take corrective action.
Breakfast is a joke compared to other hotels I've stayed at. And there were huge red stains on the room carpet. Spend a few extra dollars, and stay elsewhere!

Absolutely appalled. Walked into the lobby and was hit with a disgusting odor. Staff was unfriendly and seemed shocked when I gave him attitude back. Staff didn’t tell us what room number or floor we were on just tossed us the key. Walking into our room just disgusted us even more. The room had its own disgusting odor. Our room was smaller than a queen room and what their website stated. Bed was disgusting and half put together, sheets weren’t put on right and were falling off. The box spring for the mattress stuck out an extra five inches from the mattress.
Highly disappointed. Do not recommend and I will NEVER book here again.

Great place to stay near the Kansas City Airport! Inexpensive, but the rooms seem safe enough and are very comfortable. The shuttle starts running early, and it takes less than 10 minutes to reach your gate! The only drawback with the location is that the hotel is not really an easy walk from restaurants or convenience stores, so if you're getting dropped off, bring dinner with you; if you've got a car, no problem.

Decent place to stay, staff was good and they kept the common area clean. Bit far from bus stop and very less eatery nearby. If you have car this is good place to stay but if your planning to use local bus this is not a place. Liked their breakfast . Swimming pool is seasonal gets close after Labor Day.
