Overton Hotel and Conference Center

I stayed in this hotel for two nights because my daughter’s orientation was at the nearby university. We came to this hotel with high expectations because they partner with the nearby university and came with a hefty price. The hotel room had this strange stench, something similar to that of an old carpet, that literally would not go away; we sprayed perfume and the smell came back moments later. The bathrooms are somewhat clean, despite the strange orange colored rust on and inside of the bathtubs that did not go away even after showering. The desktop has a sticky surface and I can see the dust sticking to it. We spent the whole night trying to ignore the loud AC unit right next to our beds while we slept and we survived. My family and I left for several hours to the nearby university and let the front desk know that we wanted our room cleaned while we were gone. We came back to dirty glass cups that were scattered everywhere and coffee mugs still filled with coffee, also still on their random places on the table. Also, it was very clear that the carpet was not vacuumed (we even left a tip for the cleaning lady). We requested for new cups and the carpet to be vacuumed and whatnot, no big deal. Here’s the kicker: there was a piece of paper with a print out of a toilet and poop inside of it. My dad picked up a paper that was placed upside down right outside of the door in our room, which left the entire family disturbed and baffled (seeing a print out picture of poop in a toilet is not very delightful). We let front desk know and although they did say sorry, it was very clear that they didn’t care and brushed it off as a prank. For $200+ a night at a 4 star hotel this hotel is honestly not worth it.
