Motel 6-Mammoth Lakes, CA

Good budget option in Mammoth. I rolled in the morning with a situation - car had overheated on the way up and I was hopeful we could get a room early to put our stuff so the car could go to the shop - and Tanya was super helpful and found a solution that worked for us.

I've stayed in enough Motel 6 to know, this is pretty much what you would expect in terms of cleanliness, quality, etc. One bonus is that the rooms are warmed by central heating, not by a heater / AC unit in each room which can be very loud as it cycles on and off throughout the night.

I stayed here during spring break with my kids and it was a comfortable stay, I went to the office midweek and Tanya at the front desk was very nice and made my stay for the rest of the week so pleasant, I booked 2 more nights and she was so sweet and gave me a map of all the fun stuff there is to do out there with my kids that I wasn’t aware of! Definitely will be going back soon!

Many places undervalue the importance of having a great front desk, especially to first-timers guests!

I checked in at the last-minute and late (it was 8pm-ish) so probably the receptionist checking me in at that hour wasn't really "in the mood" on side information.

The next morning upon checking out though, Tania who handled my check-out at Mammoth Lakes was being so helpful and welcoming with loads of information for a first-time visitor/guest. Thanks a lot Tania!

The room itself is great for a night or two. Basic and clean. Mattress is a little springy to my liking but to each his own.

Definitely recommending this to anyone making a stop at Mammoth Lakes!

I love using Motel 6 for all my ski travel.

Melissa at the front desk has always been extremely helpful, very quick to check us in, and treated my groups and I with kindness and respect on all occasions. Rudolph is great as well.

I think their staff sets them apart from the other value motels in the area.

Between the kind staff, flexible reservations and the easy of access to bus lines, it makes for a very enjoyable and convenient place to stay and hit the slopes!

**** Update 2/29/24, Melissa the manager called and was so polite and apologized. I have always had great service here so I was surprised when I had a bad stay. She made it right with me and I will definitely be staying at Mammoth motel 6 again in the future! I am actually really impressed by this corporation that she would contact me directly and take the time to talk with me. Thank you!! I will be staying again soon as I am there about 3 weeks of the snow season each year.

Room smelled really bad like chemicals, cleaning chemicals, gave me a headache honestly, then the heat went out in the middle of the night, it was freezing, called the office and they sent someone in maintenance to look at it but nobody followed up or offered another room or anything, I would think they would offer me a discount for my next stay or something, at least a "hey we are sorry" but nothing. Not very happy honestly. I stay here often and won't be coming back unless someone contacts me and offers some type of remedy for this situation. Mammoth lakes in the winter is no place for zero heat. Really unacceptable!!

I received a last minute, short term job opportunity in Mammoth Lakes. I grabbed my gear and made the 5 hour drive without even thinking about where I would stay, let alone on a holiday weekend. I typically stay at Best Western or Holiday Inn for the business services and breakfasts but every place I checked was booked (first holiday weekend with the ski resort open and fresh powder). I decided to try the Motel 6 and was told they were booked as well. The manager, Dennis, overheard my conversation and stepped in. He had one room set aside for emergency situations and got me set up for the week. Dennis and all the girls in the office were very helpful and made a challenging situation go away smoothly. After getting to my room, I was pleasantly surprised at how nice it was. Clean and comfortable with a warm bed, heater and hot shower. I will definitely stay here again!

If you are looking for a comfortable place to sleep: this is the place to be in Mammoth Lakes: the room is clean and reasonably priced. Location is perfect: 10 minutes walk to the village where there a few good restaurants. Bus stop is nearby. You can leave your car in the hotel parking, take redline free shuttle bus to skiing resort. That’s what we did.
On down side: room is small. Standard room is good for 2 adults and probably should work for 3. No microwave no fridge. Remember to bring your own shampoo!

We always stay in Motel 6 when traveling with our dog. The rooms are always clean and reasonably priced. This was in a great location and close to everything we needed. My only warning if traveling with your dog is be careful of the stairs. Unfortunately upstairs was the only rooms available and going up them with with my hundred pound dog was quite the challenge, at one point his toe got stuck in-between the metal slats coming down the stairs. Luckily I was able to unwedge his foot before he completely freaked out and injured himself.

A very reasonable rate for a single fella traveling with his pup! I'm not a brand loyalist and will bounce around searching fornthe best deal. They were pretty comparable in that sense to most hotels in the area. Friendly stuff and actively branding themselves as pet friendly won me over.

It's directly across from Liberty Bar and Grill which is also pet friendly with their outdoor sitting.

Devil's Post Pile was about 30 mins from here and great if you're an early bird. Gas stations are nearby. Solid place!
