Hawks Cay Resort

We've stayed at Hawks Cay several times but this past experience was pretty disappointing. The hotel had a fowl damp, humid smell, the breakfast at the marketplace tasted disgusting and was very overpriced, the hotel wasn't playing any music at the main pool so it was awkwardly silent. And the kids splash pad and surrounding area is in major need of maintenance and repair. The only good experience was my son being greeted with cookies since we were celebrating his birthday, and the food/service at Angler & Ale was great as well. I'm honestly not sure I'll be returning to Hawks Cay after this.

Total decline in this resort! For people who haven't been coming here as long as we have, they don't know the difference. Hawks Cay used to be a pristine beautifully landscaped, wonderful service lots of staff attention to detail, kind of resort. None of those things exist anymore! Higher prices, for a lot less services, amenities and experience. (ie 6 ounce drink at the bar is $20 and it's not even good!) This place is outdated, room, accommodations, uncomfortable, and high end management unreachable, and unresponsive. Kim, the Golf Cart rider was the only one that helped us out. We had no less than four room changes and they never tried to upgrade us or compensate us for all the inconvenience, not even offered to help us switch rooms. One room was infested with dead bugs on the beds on the floor and all over the bathroom. The manager, Kim, said she would make it right, but we didn't even get a free bottle of wine, and when I asked her if they would comp us one night, she said no. Very sad to see the pool areas, so neglected, with broken down water, coolers, and no place to get a glass of ice water other than at the main bar. We will keep the memories of how Hawks Cay used to be, we will never come back to this one!

I started writing this all out, but there's a word/character limit on reviews. This is supposed to be a 4 Star Resort, but that certainly isn't what we experienced.

Suffice to say that among the many issues we encountered the worst one by far was that we found at least one cockroach every single day of our stay there. We actually found three on the first night we stayed there, in the kitchen cupboards, after we'd unpacked our food. We were moved into a new property, but that didn't stop cockroaches, and posed a genuine health and safety issue.
Additionally, there were rats running around outside, and even some dead ones on the (private) roads in the resort. Just left there, for flies to enjoy.
We have pictures, and videos of all of the above, and happy to share with anyone.

Also, I've since had to raise a fraud case with my bank, as the resort has attempted to charge approx $19,780 to my card. We were still there when the first $18,000 worth of charges was attempted. I visit reception, who was unable to explain this and their best offer was to "lock my card". I did this, but they've still attempted to make charges, hence my raising a fraud case with my bank.

Seriously: avoid this place at all costs!
