Hampton Inn Norfolk-Naval Base

I stayed at this location just for one quick night with my family for a birthday celebration. Upon arrival, the staff was great, kind and welcoming. When leaving, the same staff member who checked us in, checked us out and she was still just as awesome, attentive and helpful. She and the other staff members roaming the halls were VERY friendly!

However, the quality of this hotel is nothing more than terrible. The hallways are hot, humid, and dirty, the elevator is cramp and rickety, My room smelled of stagnant water and mold. Everything including the bed and microwave creaked loudly or whistled. There was clear water damage everywhere, the microwave in the room worked but could not heat up my baby’s bottle, the AC took forever to cool the room down and it was a 90 degree weekend, there was an outlet that clearly was blown out and the shower head was falling out of the wall leaving a clear hole and smell. The cleanliness could have been better for the price I paid but, it was doable for one night. The bed was firm but comfy and the area is busy and run down but I felt safe. The hotel looks like the pictures online but just not as clean. The only upgraded parts of the hotel were the elevator floor and lobby. The breakfast is just as expected, bagels and cereal and a juice fountain.

I will not be staying here again because my 6 months old daughter’s health deserves better! I’m only giving this a two star review because of the staff.

First time staying but probably last. Checked in around 11pm after traveling all day. I wasn't provided a welcome package as normal at other Hilton brands. Got to my room, adjusted the thermostat to 67, unpacked, and got in bed. I was awaken around 2 to a hot and muggy room. I thought maybe it was just taking time to cool down, so I fell back asleep. Around 4, I was awaken again to the same heat. I finally called downstairs to let them know. Initially, I was told they were sold out and there were no other rooms. About 45 minutes later, I got a call about going to another room. I declined because it was near 5 am, I would have had to dress and re-pack. I left as soon as I possibly could around 9. The room never cooled down and the bed was squeaky and hard as a brick. I was exhausted and very unhappy with my stay as a Gold member.
