Sandman Hotel Red Deer

We staff and terrible customer service starts with management.
I have stayed at this place twice in the last year. My kids and I stay in hotels 12-20 times a year. The first time we stayed here the toilet ran all night, they couldn't give us a different room or fix anything. I had to shut the water off to it and turn it on. They didn't have ice, I got to get it from the restaurant attached. This time I was waiting for a new credit card in the mail so had to pay a deposit for the rooms of $250 per room. For rooms that cost less than $100 per room. Fine. A friend traveling with us covered one. She lost her bank card and the front desk didn't know how to refund it without the card. A week of calling later and the manager still hasn't been available to receive a call or call back.

Had a basketball tournament to go to. Sandman was set-up as the hotel for us to stay in. Made reservations two weeks in advance and explained exactly what I needed. Lady said they would be able to accommodate my needs of an adjoining room, and another adult across the hall. Time to check in, and I'm being told there is a ridiculous incidental fee. What?! Ok, pay the fee. Get up to the room, use the bathroom, and what's behind the door? A used towel. Water marks all over the counter in the bathroom. One of the handles on the dresser was broken, had to fix that so we aren't charged. Wallpaper peeling. Beds are VERY small looking. No continental breakfast for the price, although Moxie's and Denny's are right in the parking lot if you want to pay more money.
All-in-all, I do NOT recommend this place at all. Not even to someone hard up. Not a good value for the price. Cleanliness is lacking. Not much help other than a few apologies and some sass back.
