This hotel was simply incredible. The rooms were phenomenal, no smell or order like the comments you read. I was hesitant to book also but im glad I did. They have a beautiful indoor pool, great sauna, the restaurant is amazing. Beautiful ambiance over all.
Came through with my kids. Great front staff. However, room was dirty, bath tub was hairy and a huge ring around it.told the front ladies, they were wonderful and apologetic. Got a new room, filthy as well. By this time it's 10pm and kids are exhausted. I feel bad for the front ladies(don't shoot the messenger) and whoever renovated this place. Cleaning staff is seriously lacking. Shame. It's beautiful...
Yes I picked this hotel to just say I was in Valhalla, but damn was it worth it! I was in Thunder Bay at the tail end of a business trip which was, up to that point, not very pleasant. But Valhalla made it all better. Great rooms with comfy beds, good service, and an outside courtyard (it was winter, but I could still see it). I even ate at the restaurant and it was perfect. Definitely would stay here...
Stayed at the Valhalla several times, great option for park and fly. The hotel is nothing fancy but the rooms are quite large and clean. Staff was pleasant and helpful and the shuttle to the airport is quite handy!
Only saw the restaurant. Very clean and modern. Friendly staff great burgers! Good atmosphere. Kid and family friendly. Definitely a good stop for any meal!
Very nice quiet place to stay. You can go swimming and use the Sauna, Jacuzzi and fitness equipments until 11PM daily. Nice friendly staff. Plus there is a restaurant and a bar lounge in there.

I had an excellent stay this time around. Was there for 3 nights for a union event. Staff were very friendly and helpful. I had accidentally booked at a different hotel but they gave me a suite for the same discounted rate. The first night I hound the room extremely warm so next day I asked if they had a fan. Sure enough they brought me a fan and I slept comfortably the rest of my nights there...
The hotel staff were friendly. Did not get the room I reserved as was unavailable due to issues on their end. Could not move me to different similar room so ended up in different area of hotel. Restaurant is not kid friendly and they did not seem pleased we were there and chose not to eat in our rooms. Getting my hands on a luggage cart was difficult both when we arrived and when we left.
There for a pool party, the pool was murky and my daughter said her eyes hurt from swimming in it. Yes, I realize it's chlorinated to keep it clean, but it might have been a bit heavily chlorinated as she's never complained about this before. Other than that the kids had a great time and the staff were friendly.
This could be the best hotel but needs better cable package. No reason for such crummy tv. Everything else great
My husband and I stayed here after a big cross province move, the night before we had access to our new apartment. We stayed in a business room with a King bed. The hotel was very pet friendly with fantastic service. The room was gorgeous and very clean. The 4 star review is solely due to the room service quality. Some of the food was alright but other dishes were subpar. The pan "fried" perogis, for...
Stayed for 3 days. The room was good and the food was okay except for the second day where neither the restaurant nor the lunch catered by the hotel went very well. They didn't seem to have enough staff and suplies.

We had a great stay here! Our room was very clean. We booked here due to it being pet friendly as we’re moving to the east coast and have our pets with us. Our animals were comfortable and the patio door opening to a grassy area was a huge bonus. Breakfast was okay, hot food which was nice.
They booked our room before we arrived. So they only had a king suite left. It was OK but needs a face-lift. Found the bathtub dirty. Breakfast was great, as was the staff.
Nice hotel. Amazing complimentary breakfast. Would give room a 5 star. If the shower I had worked properly. Better than most. Seems to be a common issue at hotels in Canada, though.
Quick check in, friendly front desk. My only complaint is that the hallways had a funny smell therefore they lose one star.
The dude that works at the front is awesome. Thank you for being funny as heck to us guys on the road, could use a laugh honestly. Breakfast was decent and the rooms okay, but every store you need nearby, good location!
This hotel was close to the Thunder Bay airport that we were flying out of so we were happy with the location and the price as well. Rooms were clean and comfortable as well.

Clean and well maintained rooms. Quality bathroom supplies. Nice bed. Located close to the airport in a safe neighborhood, but 15-20 minutes drive to downtown. Lots of restaurants and stores less than a 10-minute walk away. Noisy at night. No smart TV. Staff don’t have access to lost and found room, so you won’t get your stuff before leaving town. Bad coffee in breakfast room, plan to get it elsewhere
can’t say anything about the rooms , however the night worker Mhairi is phenomenal. we’re currently on our looong drive back home to edmonton and stopped in to thunder bay for the night before we hit the road again in the morning. unbeknownst to us the mine workers fly in and out these days AND there’s a fair so there’s pretty much no rooms anywhere. after looking online and going in to countless hotels...
I found the facility clean and staff professional. The breakfast staff was very good - keeping things fresh and clean. I did find the cost high.
Room was very old. Not the prettiest. I’m guessing it is because I asked for a pet friendly room. It wasn’t dirty but definitely could use a bit of an update. For 250$ a night I was disappointed. Man at the front desk was « meh ». Not rude at all, just not friendly and welcoming either.
Although the hotel was on the older side, the staff at this location were incredibly friendly and helpful! The breakfast was delicious and well put together! Available parking all around the building which was very helpful! I would definitely return to this location, primarily because of my interactions with the staff!
Located right beside airport. Have stayed in several hotels nearby but this one was by far the BEST!! Bright and clean rooms. We stayed on 1st floor so there was an extra door to outside parking lot which made it so convenient for packing the car. An amazing hot Breakfast was included, served on the 3rd floor overlooking Table mountain which was a beautiful view. Breakfast options included scrambled...

We had a great stay at The Econo Lodge in Thunder Bay. The room was one that had just been redone I believe it was the demo room. It was so nice and bright ! The bed was very comfortable! The only thing that we didn’t like was there was no fridge but we only needed it for a few cold pops anyways so it wasn’t that big I’d deal. The Front desk service was amazing from all shifts. The morning staff member...
Awesome motel. Staff are so friendly & the rooms are so clean. Staff go out of their way to make your stay feel comfortable. I wouldn’t stay anywhere else.
I found the service excellent and the staff helpful and polite. The room was just the right size for one and comfortable. Mohit at the front desk was pleasant and helpful. It impressed me he remembered my name. Very pleasant and friendly young man. A credit to your high hiring standards. He should be commended for his professionalism.
Great place for the price. Not sure why people are complaining, but I’ve only seen polite employees when I go to the lobby. They’re humans just like you and I. The morning clerk always held a room for me because I had trouble getting a seat for a plane up north. I’ll be back for sure. Good day my guy if ya see this! Thanks again for letting me stay the week! Cheers
I loved my stay at EconoLodge Thunder Bay. The housekeeping was great. Clean and nice rooms. A front desk staff member Veronica with a gorgeous melodic middle-tone voice was very kind and helpful. The breakfast was a great selection and good. Will definitely come again!
I really enjoyed my stays at night. Polite staff. Clean room. Nice shower. Great temperature in room even though cold outside.

Was an alright stay. Rooms need to be updated, bath tub looked liked it has seen better days. Was a red stain on the side of the chair, could've been blood, could've been strawberry jam. Great lodging. We have a suite and it's very comfortable. Staff is very attentive and willing to accommodate requests. Parking lot is rough so one star lost. Highly recommended and close to airport.
Still one of the city's awesome hotels. Good for meetings, parties, conventions and conferences. Entire hotel needs updating, however. Newer, more modern "name-brand" hotels and suites have sprouted during the last two years.
Broke down in Thunder Bay recently and our company booked us in this wonderful hotel. Nice lobby w/fireplace, fitness facility, pool and sauna (bring your swimsuit), the hot tub was closed for repairs but sure it will be up and running soon. They have a restaurant on site, mostly sandwiches like rueben, clubhouse etc as well as breakfast menu. Several restaurants in the vicinity if you prefer other...

Our stay at this hotel was nothing short of amazing! From the moment we checked in, the receptionist provided exceptional service —friendly, professional, and always ready to help. Our family stayed 4 nights at this beautiful hotel for a business trip. Our stay was perfect! Comfortable room with great a/c. Clean, comfortable beds. Shower pressure was great. The view of the beautiful Sleeping Giant never got old. We brought our dog and...
Breath taking location in a beautiful safe and quiet part of Thunder Bay overlooking amazing panorama of Mount McKay (I think). Either way it's beautiful. Great service friendly and professional. Room was very nice accommodated a family of 5 in one room. Also diner and breakfast was great as well. We all came out happy and we'll rested
From making our reservation to checking in to the fitness facility, the pool and the room itself, everything was wonderful. We stayed in the Mt.McKay suite. If you have the opportunity, stay here. The very large shower had three different water options, robes were supplied, two sinks and an abundant supply of extra towels were available in the vanity. The small kitchenette was lovely and the fridge...
We stayed at this hotel for the first time, which was located a few minutes outside of Thunder Bay. The hotel was very clean, the pool and hot tub were great, and we were completely blown away by how friendly and helpful the hotel staff were!!! The staff was welcoming as soon as we walked in the lobby, service was quick, & friendly. Our room was clean, the bed was comfortable & the jacuzzi was AMAZING . It was a continental breakfast with a pancake maker, fresh fruit, yogurts, cereal, toast, coffee & juice. Perfect for the light breakfast eaters. Overall we had a great stay, and we would definitely return!
Hotel is definitely dated and in need of a renovation. Staff are great, very friendly. Rooms and hotel in general are as clean as staff can get them but again being dated there’s things like water damage you can’t scrub out. The breakfast is super disappointing….a pancake machine and cold cereals/toast. At least they got a new coffee machine though, but could do a lot to improve coffee bar with some...
By far the cleanest hotel! We just came from Edmonton through heading to Ottawa. The breakfast was non-existent. But the staff more than made up for it with prompt hassle-free service. If you're going through I would make this your destination of choice.
Fantastic experience here! Was around for a business trip for a week. Check-in was smooth and effortless! The room type was available and provided as requested. The bed was quite comfortable and very warm in the cold winter months! A place I wouldn’t mind repeat visits, though for the same price, higher quality hotels are available.
Was a great location. Staff super friendly. Beautiful breakfast room and swimming pool. I didn't use the gym but my dad did. So all I know is it has a gym. Restaurants are a walking distance and it seemed like a very nice area. I wouldn't be worried at all about my vehicle in this area. Had a great stay and would definitely recommend.
Close to restaurants. Applebee’s, Montana’s, the Keg, the Caribou Restaurant + Wine Bar, and Tim Horton’s are all within a short walking distance from the hotel. Easy to get in, a little harder to get out due to road setup. Can only turn right onto Balmoral. Need to drive a few blocks down Barton Street and turn left onto William. Then you'll find a light to turn left onto Balmoral.

Our room is very nice and very clean. The check in is seamless and the Front Desk Agents are very friendly. If you're doing cross country driving and have to stop over in Thunder Bay, I highly recommend this property. The rate is very reasonable for what you get. I spent a few days here with my family. They let us check in early which was great. The room was very nice although the sliding door for the bathroom, it would be nice if you can lock that. The staff at the check in were both thorough and accommodating. They also stated that if you are travelling for medical purposes to contact the hotel directly for special rates. I appreciated the transparency, and I wish I had known this before I made my booking.
Stayed a few nights ago. A blood stain on comforter the size of my phone. We were so wiped out from driving we threw it on the floor. Next morning I took picture and went to front desk. Cleaning lady there didn't even lift her head when I was speaking to lady at desk. Terrible
Staff are fantastic here, really friendly and helpful. The lady that runs the breakfast is the nicest!
Location is great if your looking for something close to the Hospital. But it's a little dirty. Old. Needs updating. Although the person caring for breakfast was awesome. Very personable, nice and attentive.
We checked in very late at night and had my 20 month old grandson with us. He was car sick so when we arrived at the hotel, We needed to tear his car seat apart and throw everything into a washing machine. The front desk gave us laundry soap since we weren't able to locate the vending machine that sold it. We were very impressed with the room. It was spacious and well laid out and very clean. Our stay was fine, staff was pleasant, breakfast could use some improvement. My only complaint was in their welcome letter, they let guests know that they only clean rooms if you stay more than 5 days. In my opinion, that is unacceptable. Two days maybe, but 5 days is too long. They claim this is due to Covid, I feel this is Hypocritical seeing how they have a communal breakfast and eating area.

Clean rooms, my son loved the pool. Couldn't have asked for a better place to stay. We will definitely be back.
Our stay here was overall great! I would like to shout out the gentleman who checked us in, he was incredibly helpful, polite, and had great customer service! Very central location and every within about a 10 minute drive. The complimentary breakfast is the best hotel food I have ever had. Affordable pricing of $244, directly across the street from a Hotel that was DOUBLE the price for a directly comparable room.  Room 303 was clean, well appointed with an incredibly comfortable King bed. This is a beautiful Inn, friendly staff, great location. I did notice a member of the housecleaning was quite rude, when I was a few hours after check out I noticed I didn't have my phone, I checked to see if housecleaning found it and was told they didn't. Room was large, mostly clean and quiet. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Few maintenance issues in bathroom, including atrocious water pressure in the shower and what looked like a blood stain on the bed cover keep from getting 4 stars.
Loved it. No complaints. good value for money. helpful staff. big rooms and a quiet stay. My only suggestion to them would be to look at the car park and think about the needs of disabled visitors. no designated disabled parking which made it hard when you are parked on an angle. need to have designated parking at the door,

The hotel was great. Even though it was old, the hotel rooms don't look too bad and the pool was huge. I had an amazing stay and will probably come stay again.
This hotel has one of the best restaurants in town. They actually have a chef who makes everything from scratch and as such they are able to cater to any allergy. Their buffets are first class; such delicious food. And the deserts are so good, with so many options. Absolutely stunning view of Marina Park too. Love the Portside restaurant and the Prince Arthur hotel!
The prime rib buffet was very well put together . Variety was nice. Our server Randy was awesome. Only four starred because the internet was horrible. Over all it was a pleasant stay.
Rooms have amazing views of the sleeping giant. The hotel is walking distance to a long list of awesome restaurants and attractions. The staff is very accommodating, friendly and very pleasant to talk to. Free shuttle to and from the airport. The Prince Arthur Hotel has a real nostalgic feel with tons of history. So clean! Inexpensive, friendly, well appointed motel room. It is small, but charming. There's live plants hanging in the window and other dust-free decorations to brighten up the place. There are lots of surfaces, such as chairs and side tables to store your stuff. And did I mention the room was clean? Immaculate! Definitely one of the better value hotels in Thunder Bay, great for an Northern Ontario...
After my previous hotel bombed on my reservation. We spent 60 minutes looking for another place to stay. Holiday Inn staff and owner were able to accommodate myself and 2 toddlers for 2 nights. Fast check in. 3 minutes tops. And would definitely spend another night here in the future. I loved the cup of coffee I was offered
Stayed here twice..On the way to Toronto and on the way home. First stay we were on the main floor...room was lovely, clean and even had a nice plant Second time around we were on the second floor. Not quite as updated but the room was spacious and clean. Mini fridge, AC and microwave all worked well. Recommend for a place to crash when in Thunder Bay
My stay was short but very nice. The room was clean with new carpet and tiles. The bed was comfortable and I slept like a rock. I will stay here again when I come back to TB. Thanks
It is small comfortable motel. The place is clean, warm and cosy. View is great. Bathrooms are nice with clean cold and hot water. It was my first ever stay in a motel and I was highly impressed.
Stayed here for one evening with our dogs. It was surprisingly quiet The bed was comfy and the Linens were crisp and clean. It was all very clean. The owners were very nice too... What more can you ask for?

Price was super cheap at $67 a night. Obviously don’t expect any frills for this cost. All I wanted was a bed I could sleep in, a door that locks, and a relatively clean room - I got all of that. As a bonus the owner was a nice guy. Only reason I’m not giving 5 stars was because it was a dimly lit room: only three lamps and one wasn’t working.
I stayed here in Sept 2012. Absolutely THE friendliest hotel I stayed in on my trip. The manager was gracious and accommodating. For a small older hotel this one really stood out and I'd stay again if I were traveling through.
Lovely place run by friendly wonderful people! Perfect place to stay if you're passing through for the night or a few days. They also allowed our dog and we're wonderful about it!
Beautiful and homely atmosphere... Love the people over there.. Truely amazing.... Felt safe in the town.. 101 percentage i recommend this place...
