Where to stay in Gera

Nice well located hotel with friendly staff. We were there for 1 night in transit. Hotel does need some updates. Bathroom faucets didn't work as they should. Carpet in the room was worn. TV quality could also be better. But especially sauna and fitness could not be used. In other hotels, this is now possible after the pandemic. Could be better!

3-3.5 stars would be fair. The room was rather large and the bathroom/shower were decent. The bed wasn’t very comfortable, but not bad for a 1-2 night stay. The AC wasn’t working properly. Thankfully I stayed there in the fall, so it didn’t get too warm. The staff members were all rather pleasant.

- Rooms: fine - Bed: could be worse - Breakfast: fine - Internet connection: terrible!! I expect connection without any problems in 2021. Free Wi-Fi is unusable. "High speed" wifi for 7,5€/day (!!!) is also almost unusable.

Mid-range hotel for business travelers. Easy access and a good location. Nothing fancy, but you'll most likely have a good sleep!

Nice hotel and the staff is nice and helpful. We stayed one night on our way home from holiday and it was absolutely perfect for two adults and two teenagers. Quiet area where we could sleep with open windows without hearing noise from outside.

Everyone was very attentive. The location is great. The internet was very bad. I did not always have a parking space at the hotel. The room was not cleaned at every request.

The Hotel is all in all in good condition. The Furniture is a bit outdated, but everything you need in a hotel room, is there.

In 10 years around the world I can say that the royal inn is one of the cleanest hotel, but no English speaker at the reception and the Wi-Fi really bad

4 stars mainly based on price and value. As a 4 Star hotel it means you get the privilege to pay for Internet $10, parking $7, breakfast $11, and sauna. The room has ac, but it doesn't work well in either of our two rooms. Even cool outside it couldn't cool our rooms after 2 hours. Eventually gave up and opened windows, but fair amount of noise from the street and bugs because no screens on Windows...

This was my second time as a guest, but due to the disappointment this time it will definitely be the last time. If you are dependent on a socket directly by the bed, you should clarify this at the beginning. However, upon request I was helped with an extension cord. The billing, the check-out was a disaster (but it was not due to the staff present). Breakfast is okay despite everything.

This is a very unique Italian restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere. The owners are wonderful people to begin with, that gave that place a lot of charm. The food is a lavish travel through the Italian cuisine and the quality is perfect. Did I mention that they have a great selection of vines and that you need to try their espresso, after all? We are very satisfied. But they don't have high standards either. The hotel is in male hands and you can tell. Everyone was very nice and accommodating. And the rooms are fully sufficient for sleeping. And that is what you only want to do when you are on holiday in a hotel. 👍👍👍

Sufficient free parking spaces directly in front of the door. Extremely friendly reception and a huge room with a large desk and a sofa. Everything perfect for working and relaxing. Excellent place to overnight with a most central location, very clean, friendly personnel, at reasonable prices. The location on the third floor of a building, very modernly build, is kind of unusual, however very easy to reach from the ground level or underground garage with the elevator. Breakfast is average but sufficient and with fresh products. I can only recommend !

Quiet location on the nearby lake, where you can hear the fish at night. The rooms were newly renovated only a few years ago and are in top condition. Breakfast is very extensive and can be seen!

This may not be the best hotel you have ever been to, but you will have a pleasant stay here. I believe it's a family business and the gentleman whos always there is very friendly. You are allowed to make a sandwich in the morning to take away with you, something I've never seen elsewhere. The bathrooms are renovated and very clean.

Nice Italian Restaurant (Manager Agelo Antoniolli) with superior food and good wine sortiment. Better to reservate a table before visiting to be save. Next the restaurant you have a very good Hotel with Rooms with banion in the bathroom. And you look at the small see of Altenburg.

Reasonable place with a Italian kitchen. The room are clean and well furnished. The hotel nicely located along a small lake running through the town and walking distance to the town square. The only short coming is the wifi connection in the room. Have almost zero connection in the room. But as long u walk out to the open place like the lobby it is OK.

A hidden Gem! This great hotel was recently renovated or rebuilt and is centrally located with great access to the inner city pedestrian area. We had a modern room with garage parking and elevator access and could walk to all the central attractions. The hotel staff was very attentive and made our stay with two little children very comfortable and enjoyable.

We stayed in the older house. Very clean and well maintained. Breakfast very plentiful, lovingly and great made. Wishes are fulfilled immediately (extra water & egg)

This hotel seems to be driven with passion. The rooms are nice, modern and clean, and this also goes for the breakfast room and other areas. We had a room in the main building. Prices are relatively low. The breakfast is really delicious and served with care.

A very nice pension. The decor is tasteful, old-fashioned. That is what makes the pension so special and unique. The rooms have names of nobles. Altenburg Castle is nearby.
