A very nice, clean, and unique small hotel. The location is also great as there is a forest next to the hotel which is perfect if you love nature. I went for a jogging there and it was relaxing and quiet. Books are everywhere in the hotel, also some are in English. They have a small sauna at the hotel if you need a time to relax. Highly recommended.

Location, interior and service are very good. Reception is bad and Wifi is mediocre, but not exactly required features for a Hotel based on literature, reading and relaxation. The Literaturhotel Franzosenhohl hits the mark on everything it wants to be.

Oh... speechless...what a hotel... located among maple trees... quite and peaceful away from any pollution...5 minutes drive from iserlohn railway station... squeaky clean washrooms and linen...super friendly staff...nice English breakfast...the omelettes were great...lots of books arranged all round the hotel..

Had a great 1 night stay booked a forest view room but asked if it was possible to upgrade to valley view receptionist was very helpful and arranged for us to move rooms nothing seemed to much trouble, evening meal was delicious and breakfast was also very good, looking forward to staying here again, peaceful location with lots of walks and close to the town.

Great little room very quiet, just what you need when your travelling with work and feeling tired WiFi has a great connect and location is good to grab a bite, plenty of pizza and kebab shops if you want something quick or restaurants. Hotel was very tidy clean and welcoming.

Such a great experience. Marcel and the owner are so nice and accommodating. The breakfasts are hearty and tasty. It's a very genuinely German experience. The rooms are clean and comfortable and the wifi is solid. Such a friendly place.

And worth to mention how did they effectively supported me in emergency situation to purchase a tie that I needed for the evening party (have lost one during my journey). Attended a wedding 3 days ago. One of the best weddings I have been to. The food was exceptional, the service was great and attentive. Beautiful location with a very nice outdoor area. As there were two weddings at the same location, staff had to run through our function in order to serve the other, which was slightly strange...but not a major problem. The slightly unruly behaviour of the other wedding...

Good rooms, a bit outdated hotel. Excellent breakfasts, good choice, everything is tasty and fresh. But be careful, their garage cameras do not record video, they only show in real time. If you have an incident, they will not be able to help you, as they did not help us.

The employees are super nice and the restaurant is good. But the room itself didn't look like the one I reserved from the website. And wasn't clean. There was insects on the bed. The liquid soap and shower gel they use come in containers you have to squeeze and there were visible fingerprints on them. In a hotel they should use contact less automatic dispensers. The tissue box was more than half empty...

The hotel is located in the centre of the city, the bus stop is nearby. The restaurant was great, especially staffs, very kind and attentive people! We were in this hoter for about 2 weeks with a group of children. Everything was fine, except of my room, because it doesn’t have a view from the window, just the wall, it’s awful, it was too dark and it’s really important for me to have a beautiful view...

Although this hotel needs an update, I still think it deserves 4 stars. Mainly because of the excellent service and friendly staff. Breakfast was also great! The first night, I had problems sleeping because of the thin pillow. I didn't complain, but was surprised to find extra pillows on the bed the next day. There were free earplugs as well, maybe because next to the hotel there are major building...

Firstly, the hotel is in center of the Iserlohn and I liked it’s location. It is furnished tasteful, also furnitures in the rooms are quite clean and new. The bed was so comfortable. Staff are friendly and helpful. The breakfast is simply good. I can recomend Hotel Engelbert to visitors:)

The other review, for Non-German speaking readers, says the big "negative" is the church bells. They would be correct on this, as they go off every 15 minutes beginning at 6am and ending at 7pm. But I am in the middle of a 4 week stay at this hotel and this is the only possible negative thing I can thing of as well. And after a day or two, you don't even really notice it. It adds ambience and charm...

Highly Recommended. Stayed in an apartment for 6 weeks. Very neat and adequately equipped. The landlady is very friendly and helpful. Parking spaces also for larger cars. It will certainly not be the last time I have been here.

Clean room, comfortable bed, good breakfast. I had a single room, which was the typical German single room with a single bed pushed against the wall. For the price perfectly fine! There restaurant is nice, the staff friendly. It'll be my choice to stay, when I'm back in Meden.

Good and cheap, empty parking spaces difficult to find or to reach over a high curb. Very cozy breakfast room with a nice selection. I found the mattress in the room a bit soft/ saggy.

The steak was perfect, really soft as I was hoping for and french fries surprised me. It wasn't like fries you expect from McDonald's, it was actually baked potatoes with cracklings and parsley. Have stayed in this hotel on a number of occasions and would certainly recommend. The rooms are clean and surprisingly big. The breakfast and restaurant are both very good.

Very pleasant little hotel! The owners are a bit older, but they are always friendly and hospitable! The rooms are clean, there are minor signs of use here and there, but nothing that limited the functionality. We had a room with a balloon. It wasn't particularly big, but it offered enough space for two and was well worth the € 80! The breakfast was excellent and the owner's little wire-haired dachshund...

For the umpteenth time I was in this beautiful hotel. The rooms are very nicely furnished, quiet, nice view - especially to the south. You will always receive a friendly and warm welcome. The SPA area is very inviting. If you register in advance, a glass of water will be ready for you. In the adjoining restaurant you sit very nicely, the service is friendly and it tastes great. Not easy to reach at night, as the roads in the surroundings are dark, and it is a bit far from the main towns around. But the location is astonishing. A gem in the middle of the wood. Very friendly staff, they did everything to make our stay memorable. We travelled with two dogs, and they were really kind to them too. Excellent food in the restaurant that really exceeded our expectations. Vegetarian and even vegan options, which is not a given in Germany. Beautiful location in a little village surrounded by hills and forests. In summary: highly recommended!

Returning to Hotel Zur Post is always a treat: the hotel staff is extremely friendly and helpful. Feel free to ask at the desk for anything, even for places to visit in the area - we had a lady explain to us every step to reach a certain viewpoint, she even drew us a hand drawn map which was insanely adorable! The rooms are clean and spacious, this includes the bathroom which features all amenities...

Relativ großes Hotel. Ich war in etwa 4 unterschiedlichen Zimmern. Alles soweit sauber und gepflegt. Zimmereinrichtung und Bad würde ich mal auf Mitte/Ende 80er Jahre schätzen. Fernseher klein, teilweise noch Röhre. Restaurant und Frühstück gut. WLAN kostenlos aber von wechselhafter Qualität. Die Zimmer hatten alle einen kleinen Schreibtisch mit Steckdose.

Hotel and dining room are definitely to be recommended. The hotel is very modern, there is a terrace for each room with a view of the open meadow. The bathrooms are modern and comfortable. The dining room has good food at reasonable prices. I will definitely come back when the opportunity arises.

A wonderfull new hotel at a magnificent location in the hills near Neuenrade. The rooms are (very clean) quiet and luxurious. The hotel is run by a very friendly family/staff. In short a great place to stay!

We felt very comfortable and welcome in this hotel. A warm welcome, useful tips, comfortable beds in the rustically furnished room, everything contributed to the fact that we recovered well after a strenuous bike ride. And the next day a breakfast awaited us that left nothing to be desired. Absolute recommendation!

One of the best Hotels I have visited for a long time. The rooms are beautiful, great choice on food (big portions) and the location is so convenient. The owners and all members of staff are so accommodating and will help where they can and go the extra mile too. I have spend a week at this Hotel and was sad to leave. Love staying here with my family, lots for the kids to do and a good wifi for the grown ups. The staff are always helpful and friendly. The breakfast and dinner were great. They coped with our various dietary requirements with ease, ( 2 vegetarians and 1 milk intolerance) for the evening meal - which was delicious. Great place to stay if you need to be close to the university. It's just 2 minutes walk. I've stayed there a few times and will definitely choose it again if happen to be in Hagen. Very clean rooms, look newly renovated and modern. Friendly staff always ready to help. Possibility to check in late at night using terminal.

It is a well equipped, big hotel complex, conveniently located in walking distance to central Hagen. Interior is a bit aged, but still in good shape and clean. Hotel staff are very friendly.
