Gartenstadt Hotel

We were stuck in a bad situation with a broken car on a national holiday, where we had to wait for someone to pick us up from multiple hours away. The hotel allowed us to rest in our room during the day free of charge, many hours over the usual check out time, for us to be comfortable with our baby while waiting. An extremely nice gesture! Very clean and nice room with excellent service.

Good service and good food!
The service was fantastic! Our family checked in pretty late and they offered us a special treatment allowing us to order a quick dinner after working hours! Great restaurant in the hotel which is located in downtown area and very convenient for walking and going to anywhere.

Bit of a walk from bars and restaurants but all in all very pleased. Excellent parking facilities.

Breakfast was great. Rooms clean and comfortable. Would certainly come back again.

I stayed here because it was close to the hospital—. My husband was there for orthopedic surgery. We were Americans on a river cruise when he broke his femur in Speyer and eventually got moved to the hospital in Ludwigshafen. It was a bad situation for my husband at the hospital in Speyer and I was extremely stressed and worn down by the time he was transferred to Ludwigshafen. So I was not at the Gartenstadt for happy reasons and I ended up staying there almost a month. First, the people who own and run the hotel could not possibly have been kinder or more helpful. The is a family run business that has been in this family for many years and clearly they care about their reputation and also enjoy making people feel comfortable. Now that I have been back in the US for a few weeks, I am still overwhelmed thinking about their kindness. They really helped me feel less lost and that there were kind people in the world. The hotel is basic— everything worked great, the bed was comfortable, I always had hot water, the room was quiet at night. There was a good buffet breakfast every morning. The hotel also had a lovely dining room with very good food—. It was open for dinner, Monday through Thursday. Ludwigshafen is a corporate town—the guests are mostly traveling on business or on weekends, traveling to see family. There is a very limited downtown (with a lovely independent bookstore). If I ever had to travel to this part of the world again, hopefully for less stressful reasons, I wouldn’t hesitate to stay here again.

The hotel is clean and the staff we encountered was friendly. The breakfast buffet looked sufficiently stocked for meat/dairy eaters. We, as Vegans, had limited options, but we are used to it. The service staff did offer Oar Milk, therefore I was able to drink a cappuccino, which was much appreciated!

Parking was free and available in an underground garage and in front of the facility.

The room had a good size (deluxe room reservation) and again, was clean. Shower water pressure was good, the bed was our only complaint during our stay. The mattress in our room was no longer good and, in our opinion, should be replaced. My wife called it “demonic”. Neither one of us had much sleep.

Unfortunately, the main reason to stay at a hotel is to sleep away from home, I cannot provide the highest rating, however, the cleanliness, the facility itself and the friendliness of the staff deserves their credit.
