Goldener Adler - Hotel & Appartements

One of the best vacations we’ve ever had! We traveled with our young kids and my husband’s parents, and the place was absolutely perfect for our group. The location is excellent, surrounded by greenery, with a small stream gently flowing under our window and the pastoral sound of birds in the morning.

The rooms were spotless, comfortable, and thoughtfully equipped—the kitchen had everything we needed, even a small pitcher for milk or water. The beds and pillows felt like something out of a fairy tale, and the view from our bedroom was so serene and peaceful.

Our kids loved the playground, with a treehouse, a little play horse, and swings—every detail was thought of. There are also a few nice restaurants nearby if you want to eat out.

The breakfast was absolutely delicious and generous, with everything you could want to start your day. The staff was extremely kind and welcoming, always ready to help with anything we needed.

We truly can’t thank you enough. This is the kind of place that feels like a real home away from home, and we hope to come back again soon!

Triple room. Comfortable beds. Clean. New. Restaurant is excellent. Prompt service. Fresh. Great vibe.

Stayed 2 nights with half pension in the apartment side, newly built in 2022. The room is cleaned, modern, simple but has everything one needs. We went to the sauna in the evening(textile sauna 15:00-17:00) so the kids can visit with family. The staffs were very friendly. The must to mention is the restaurant with properly trained staffs and vintage vibe there. Food quality is excellent. All dishes I had so far was far better than my expectations set for the small town guesthouse in Black Forest. We saw many families since they have full apartments option to stay, where you can cook too. The deal we had has high price/performance during the low season. Hiking options are around. Big city like Freiburg is very near. I'd recommend, if you haven't been in the area yet.

No split to 2 single beds, not sure if it was requested, not the biggest issue to share the bed.
Breakfast was nice. Thought there would have been more hot foods like egg / bacon etc!! There was scrambled egg.

Brand new appartements with bike storage. Very friendly service and good food!

We booked a premium room. Modern, clean, and new facility with a touch of traditional German sense. Pefect for a couple or families 😊

We celebrated our wedding in the Scheune at the Adler a couple of weeks ago and felt very taken care of. We worked the closest with Sandra and Axel and they were absolutely wonderful and accommodating, even though our event took almost 3 years for our event to become reality (due to Covid). My husband is from Germany and of course speaks the language fluently. My German, however, is not very strong, so it was incredibly sweet of both Sandra and Axel to explain our options in English so that I could follow along and help with the decision-making. Familie Maier was very flexible with our requests and we felt we had plenty of time to finalize details. This was especially helpful since we flew into the area from San Francisco only about a week before the event. We were able to meet with Familie Maier again and even re-sample some of the wine and food options to refresh our memories from when we first booked with them. The Adler had also made some updates for the location options of our Kaffee Kuchen (Coffee and Cake) reception since we'd first booked with them: We were able to choose between their peaceful and shaded patio area beside the hotel, or the beautiful garden lawn behind the barn, which has been redone with a nice paved section for the benches and a covering for shelter from the sun. We chose the garden lawn area, but both spots were very nice for any type of cocktail hour or mingling. Music is not allowed even during the daytime out of respect for the neighbors, but it was still a nice relaxing time.

The event itself was beautiful, and although it took a little while for us to start dinner (partially because a few of the speeches began), the food was tasty and our guests' glasses were always full. I was especially impressed with how they helped organize babysitting for us and our guests. There were quite a few guests traveling with young children and we were concerned there would be some stress surrounding a late evening, but Familie Maier set up several baby and toddler beds for us in the "wine cellar" area and brought in two lovely baby-sitters to help watch the little ones and even help get them to sleep. They were so helpful, patient, and very sweet with the children. The play room was also open for the older kids to entertain themselves (I hear they started up a "movie night" at some point!). One thing I would note about booking in the summer here is that they are unable to open the windows at night due to noise ordinance, so it did get quite hot on the dance floor in the evening and many people had to step out for fresh air every once in a while.

Although we personally did not stay overnight at the Adler, several of our guests did, and we heard so many wonderful things! People were very pleased with their rooms, the convenience of the location right across from the barn, and the friendliness shown by Familie Maier. My mother-in-law even decided to book her and my father-in-law's 50th wedding anniversary party there a few years from now!

Overall we were very pleased with our experience. Familie Maier puts a lot of heart and soul into their hotel and into making a great experience for their guests. Many thanks to them!

Good, clean modern rooms in a traditional building, excellent food. Staff are friendly and device is attentive.
