Ibis Barcelona Mini-hotel

I was refused service during the check in process because I was traveling with my wife and 6 year old son. The woman at the check in tried to upsell a second room at lest minute price, at which point I made her aware of the “Children friendly” clause clearly mentioned in my booking confirmation. Hotel staff, while friendly did point out that they cannot lodge 3 people in one room. The fault here is incompetence of the company to inform tourists of these limitations, while rubbing in their nose the children friendly policy. I did get refunded, but the inconvenience here is that I had to find another place to stay, this was profoundly disturbing and I will always recommend anyone to stay away from Ibis hotels no matter their situation.

In addition to the good location, there is nothing good about it!

Review for Ibis Barcelona Castelldefels

I stayed at the Ibis Barcelona Castelldefels for an overnight stay on Saturday, November 16, and unfortunately, my experience was far from satisfactory. The room’s air conditioning was completely non-functional, blowing only hot air and failing to ventilate the space properly. As a result, the room felt stifling and uncomfortable.

When I raised the issue with the staff, their response was both disappointing and unprofessional. The only solution offered was a portable ventilator, which was inadequate and only highlighted their inability to address the problem effectively. The staff appeared incompetent and unprepared to handle such basic issues, which added to the frustration.

Given this experience, I’m baffled by the 8/10 rating on booking platforms. It’s far too generous for a property that fails to deliver the bare minimum for a comfortable stay. I would personally rate it a 5/10 at best, based solely on the fact that the location and other basics were as expected. For future guests, I would advise reconsidering if air quality and responsive service are important to your stay.
