The place to stay in Santiago...it's a truly amazing hotel. A wonderfully restored and magnificent building, once a hospital for those recovering after the Camino ..long long ago. It is a very special place and there is a perfect view of the cathedral from the breakfast room. Such a great way to start the day.😀

Location and staff were amazing. However I had no water pressure from the above shower head which was something I was looking into. Breakfast buffet is worth it I think and the location worth a lot more. Rooms are clean and spacious :)

Amazing property located right beside the Cathedral. Multiple courtyards inside the parador. Incredible views from room and breakfast area. Breakfast was out of this world with cooked dishes (to be selected from a menu) in addition to the regular breakfast options. Service as expected for a 5* hotel. Really worth every penny. Looking forward to coming back and celebrating the end of the Camino pilgrimage in grand style.

While the location of the hotel is stunning, our overall experience was very poor. We arrived to find a ball of body hair in the shower, sitting on top of the soap dispensers. The staff offered free bottles of water as a gesture, which we found insulting. The next morning, the shower flooded after just two minutes of use. Additionally, we ordered a meatless omelet at breakfast, which arrived smelling strongly of fish. This is unacceptable service for a 5-star hotel. Paradores are renowned for being brilliant hotels, but this particular one fell short in our experience.

An incredible way to celebrate completing the Caminho! The perfect location right next to the cathedral. Staff are amazingly attentive. The breakfast buffet is excellent (as is the coffee). Ask for reservations at the Restaurante Dos Reis, they can often get you in ... And we loved the tasting menu with wine pairing).

Beautiful, historic hotel in the heart of Santiago de Compostela. Was converted from a hospital created to treat travelers at the end of their pilgrimage. Property is absolutely stunning. No better location/hotel/restaurant exists in Santiago.

This is the 5th of the 6 Paradors my wife and I are staying in on our tour of Spain. Until now we have been very impressed with Segovia, Toledo & Cáceres to name some, but Santiago de Compostella has been underwhelming…. The situation and the building and the rooms are fantastic but oh dear … the service and food leaves so much to be desired for a 5 star hotel. There seems to be a lack of staff in the bar area - asked for a drink and nothing appeared after 30 minutes! The restaurant staff are mainly surly and fail to make eye contact. Try training your staff to look up and see the diners. The food was poorly prepared - bones still present in the hake, cooked apple served cold with warm rice pudding - well someone tell the chef how to core an apple properly. No ice for water at the tables. So disappointing - so we cancelled our dinner here this evening for a restaurant locally. Overall impression is that this place is sitting on its laurels and that there is a need to train staff to be pleasant and more attentive. Oh, look at your food too. First time I have reviewed a hotel prior to leaving!

Staying in absolute history in a magnificent old building like this Parador cannot be beaten. Guests must expect that the floors might make a noise when you walk and some of the doors or windows are not the most modern style but this is an iconic 500 year old building! Its beauty and history is why you are here in the first place. The front office staff very friendly and helpful, as are the breakfast restaurant staff, however, a few staff members in the bar/lounge area are more “functional” than “5 star,” in terms of proactive service,…meaning they’re more reactive when you approach them with a request than proactive. Breakfast is decent enough if included in the rate, but I would not pay for it as a standalone service and feel I’m getting value for money. The five star rating is predominantly for the history of this magnificent hotel. Nonetheless, it is a fantastic stay in an amazing location.

Fairly affordable luxury in a grand, historic building. Everything about it was excellent. Great breakfast too and dinner in the restaurant was yet another treat.

Simply stunning! The history is everywhere. Beautiful iconic building set in the heart of Santiago. Surrounded by medieval cobbled streets, wonderful restaurants and achingly beautiful buildings. Stay here - you won't regret it. 👌
